Many years ago, I bought this custom shift knob from a little company called Grabber Pony.

Although the knob looks black in this photo, it is actually Kona Blue. Grabber Pony could make shift knobs using any of the paint colors Ford used on the Mustang from 2005 and up. They would do custom engraving, and you could also specify what color paint you wanted for the engraving. Sadly, Grabber Pony doesn't exist anymore.

Although it will be months (maybe even a year, depending on a few factors) before I order a new Mustang, I've been thinking about shift knobs. What I would like to do is buy a white cueball-style shift that fits the S650 and have it custom-painted. Not in a single color, like the knob above, but to have a particular design painted on it. I've done quite a bit of searching online, and while I have found many different custom shift knobs, I have not found a company or an artist who hand-paints pictures on custom shift knobs. Well, I did find a website for one guy who does, but looking at the numerous projects featured on his website, they all look kind of hazy.

One of my best friends is a very good painter, but she paints portraits and wildlife scenes on canvas. She said she could take a crack at it, but before commissioning her, I thought I would try to find someone who has done many shift knobs. Does anyone know someone who regularly does custom painting on shift knobs?

A white ball is available on Amazon. I love the old school look, as is. Good luck with paint.

Yes, and from CJ's Pony Parts, American Muscle, Steeda, and many other places. Sourcing a white cueball shifter is the easy part.
