How in the heck do you turn on steering assist on 2024 GT Premium?

We have a Palisade as a well.

My car does the exact behavior that my wife’s suv does if I want it to. All I have to do is turn on the adaptive cruise and turn on lane assist / centering on the steering wheel. The Palisade does it all when you turn on the cruise.

I personally only use the cruise in my car and don’t use the lease assist / centering.

The Mustang has lane keeping assist. It keeps the car in your lane.

The Mustang has lane centering assist, it keeps the car centered.

The Mustang has a steering wheel mode, which you can set to comfort, sport etc. and you will see a steering wheel icon on your dash.

So if you refer to that steering wheel icon, than that icon is to show what steering wheel mode you are using.
OP, this ^^^ with adaptive cruise control is probably what you are looking for.

Need to make sure you even have the adaptive cruise feature built into your car, then turn on the lane assist features with it.

It is a GT Premium 401A automatic…….there IS a self steering option? You have my attention, my friend!

Well, it will steer for a bit... then gives you the "Put hands on steering wheel" warning, and disables if you don't.

I guess you’re wanting to drive your Mustang hands-free like your Hyundai. For me, I actually like driving my Mustang with my hands on the wheel so that I can control all those horses through turns and corners (I try to avoid interstates and city driving). So, I guess I’ll see your Hyundai with your hands off the wheel in my rear view mirror. If hands-free is so important, may be time to get rid of the Mustang. I hope you have tried the options/settings that are available to you on the Mustang, but from your posts I still can’t tell exactly what you’ve done. I think this HANDSFREE STEERING and SELF-DRIVING CAR stuff has been beat to death.

So, nothing even close to our much less expensive Hyundai, huh?
This might be more of a fair comparison if we're talking about something like a Lincoln Navigator vs the Palisade; but as it is, we're talking about two very different vehicles designed with a different purpose in mind. One is more of a luxury SUV while the other is a sports car.

Price doesn't have much relevance in this comparison.
However, as someone who has owned both Hyundai and Ford vehicles, I can honestly say that, IMO, the Hyundai is a much more cheaply built automobile.

Nope, not even close with needing to have your hands on the steering wheel almost all of the time. My Hyundai has it beat hands down….
My 25 Tucson requires both hands on the wheel or it will start alerting you same as the Mustang.

If you want a true self driving vehicle go by a Tesla. The Mustang isn't the car for you.

OK guys……thank you for all a your input……….I guess I thought that a 2024 Mustang with Co-pilot 360 would have steering assist, as our 3 year old Hyundai does…..and it cost a LOT less, you know?
Under the driver assistance setting go to cruise control and then under adaptive cruise control there should be an option for lane centering

I think a lot of this confused back and forth could be/would be eliminated if only the OP would take the time to download and read the owners manual. In the amount of time it has taken him to accurately explain himself here (which he hasn't really done) he could have downloaded and found his answer in the owners manual many times over. Just sayin....

Ok, I think that little icon is to let you know what Mode your Steering feel is in. And nice if your Hyundai had this 3+ years ago. My Porsche Macan Turbo doesn't have Lane Assist Correction (with moving the Steering wheel) like my S650 GT so your point is .......

:wait:

Yeah, but when I want to sleep all that steering with my hands effort keeps me awake, so the hands-free is really useful.

Where‘s the fun in that?? Keep the wheel in your hands, sleep (kidding) and dream of keeping your GT in the proper lane!!! Works for me!!!!
