Same.. My Dayton 8 ohm center speaker arrives today. Let us know how the install and most importantly the sound difference, if any, turns out.

Does anyone know if the convertible uses the same OE enclosure as the hardtop? I was thinking this would be a good mod to jump on but then I came across the SKAR replacement enclosure that is listed as hardtop only and won't work on convertibles. This got me to thinking that there may be some difference?

I'm curious. Question for those who upgraded their subwoofer: those that upgraded but used a separate enclosure, how many installed a 10" or 12" (with an amplifier of course)?

Went to my local car audio spot and got a new subwoofer upgrade. I definitely already feel the difference in quality compared to the stock. I'm very happy with the outcome. I did end up going with a more expensive option in case I want to expand the current system further.

How much modification did you have to do?
Thanks Steve

I didn't do much myself since a shop did for me but all they ordered was the speaker and front case grill. They reused the same sub case and all.
You know where they order the Front Case Grill?

So I did the center dash speaker today. I have both the Pioneer 8 Ohm and the Infinity ~4 Ohm variety so I tried both.

With the Pioneer, as others have mentioned, the mounting holes aren't even close to stock so I tried the 3M double sided tape but no matter what I did, I felt like the speaker was still not tightly mounted but I tried it out anyway.

It sounded nice, big difference from the stock speaker and no front of car imbalance. I did have to turn the treble down compared to the stock speaker.

So I moved to the Infinity, a brand I have always liked for their high end, crisp sound.
This one mounted perfectly.
Tried it out and again crisp sounding and to my ears pretty much the same as the Pioneer maybe a wee bit forward sounding due to the lower impedance but I like that type of sound.
I tried various forms of music from acoustic jazz to rock to pop to classical and I really cranked up the system way past what I would normally do and nothing exploded due to the lower impedance so I left it in.
Ultimately I stayed with the Infinity.

Just a final note, what others have commented about the stock speaker being a POS is soooooo true. You really have to hold it to see how light and cheap it is. To be honest I'm surprised it even sounds as "good" as it does because it is a light weight, stamped frame, small magnet piece of junk. It's literally like something you would find in a 1970's cheap clock radio or TV.

Next project, the sub woofer Pioneer swap.

Steveo…Glad you had a great result! Your impression of the stock speaker was dead-on. Not something you’d expect from a $1,000 upgrade system. B&O is just a name slapped on cheap chinese speakers.

But once you have changed that center speaker AND the sub, you’ll notice enough of an improvement to be happy. I was.

Actually Mexico I believe. B&O are involved in design and implementation but do not make the speakers.
