So I did the center dash speaker today. I have both the Pioneer 8 Ohm and the Infinity ~4 Ohm variety so I tried both.
What 8 ohm Pioneer Speaker did you use for center speaker?

Some of us used Dayton ND95 8ohm. The Dayton holes are too close and the speaker is wider and deeper at the magnet and hits a plastic obstruction in dash on right side. I was able to attach in original holes, but had to slot holes and use a large washer on right side.

OBTW I have an Infinity 4 Ohm if anyone wants, PM me.

If I remember right, the plastic obstruction was an alignment pin for the speaker bracket. I just snipped it off.

There was a larger obstruction under the dash that wouldn't allow the Dayton speaker to be centered. A little offset of the speaker to the left requiring the washer on the right screw to fasten.

Happy for everyone improving sound with just small bucks for swapping some speakers.
But to speak up for the really cheaply made original speakers:
With an aftermarket DSP amp and a microphone for the included calibration program, the whole system sounds very good even for audiophiles.
Only the sub should be replaced anyway.

Yea.
I use SonarWorks in my home project studio and with a calibrated microphone it makes a huge difference in the sound of my monitors (JBL).

I suppose REW would be good for a car.
I used it to determine the frequency of the exhaust drone from my Magnaflow system in my 03 GT vert.

FWIW, I'm going to try the Dayton front center speaker again just for grins and giggles as now I know what was preventing it to seat properly.
It's certainly easy enough to swap.
Didn't get to the subwoofer today. Maybe tomorrow.

I'm going to do this upgrade this weekend. Question about the polyfill, do I just stuff it in there and shape it around the box? Or am I supposed to secure it to the sides somehow, like glue it or something?

You can just leave it out.
The basic volume is too small to let that little Polyfill you can stuff inside have any significant effect.

Other than that, no need to fix it.

I bought poly fill but never used it. I’m not sure how much of a difference it makes.

Thanks guys, I wound up placing the polyfill around the sides but not packing it full. I didn't want to interfere with the sub. I have no idea if it had any effect but the sound is so much clearer and punchier than with the old crappy sub. Amazing upgrade for such a cheap price. However, I could not for the life of me save that trim ring. I broke every clip, lol.

The orginal grill has the pins that hold the original trim ring in place. I just used some double sided tape to hold orginal trim ring down over speaker then installed a 4 bar grill over it. The screws for the grill also hold the trim ring in place.
