i figured out my mistake here. as usual, poor prep and sloppiness are to blame. having remembered this job to be easy the last time, i skipped some steps. this time i put the bearing in the freezer, heated the knuckle with a heat gun, put gear oil on bearing surface and unbolted the knuckle...
just tried to press m 5a460 bearing into the knuckle on my 2024 dh and the knuckle cracked. i did this on my 2015 s550 without a problem. any insights into why this happened?
also,
i suggest using bosch esi6 brake fluid. it is a low viscosity fluid that outperforms motorcraft/pentosin dot4 lv.
esi6 dry/wet boiling point 520/360
motorcraft dry/wet bp 509/338
it is $18 on amazon for a quart
not to plug third party software, but the iphone app store has an app called forscan lite. it is 8 dollars. with that and the obd mx adapter, it is quite easy to put it into service mode
i just purchase the magneride minimum drops. upon inspecting the rear springs, i noticed the top of the springs are asymmetrical left to right. the top coil is more widely spaced on one side compared to the other. the bottoms are symmetrical. does anyone know if this is intentional?
there must be a misunderstanding here. when i say bleed the brakes i mean push it out through the caliper. what you are referring to is flushing air bubbles out of the abs module i think
