I don't know what my DH sub enclosure looked like. Sold it two days ago. Got a Oxford White GT now.Looks like it is vented in the back. The B&O system isn't any different between the DH and GT/Ecoboost.

I've made a couple of them. I sold my DH Premium because I'm a Worry Wart. Scared to scratch it, wreck it. And if someone tries to jack it I pack a P229. Was going to get 20+ S550 so I could Procharge it. But all the cars I seen were modified. Too much to deal with. To make a sub box all you need is the measurements and math. From that you'll get the C.I. for the box. Sealed are easier do deal with, and pound more solid. My friend did the same 18 Fosgate and when it boomed the bolt he put in the speaker would go up past the second story. But for a Mustang smaller enclosures are the best. Fosgate makes a single 12 in a round cylindrical box. You could tie it down in the trunk wedged against the floor and back seat. Thanks AZ Ryan! I saw those vents in the video You posted. I cancelled my poly fill order and saved $20. Either way, I know Iâm overthinking it. Itâs what I doâŠlol.
CucucruââŠ.you have a custom sub box?
Curious why you went from a DH to a GT. a little more streetable?
There is no vent at the back, it is a sealed enclosure. Pollyfill will not cause overheating, it just mimics a larger enclosure.Looks like it is vented in the back. The B&O system isn't any different between the DH and GT/Ecoboost.
I went the other way and slotted the holes in the speaker, used the stock trim ring and 4 bar grill. This way i could go back to stock easily. Either way works.BTW: I see where some modify the speaker holes to fit the box, and some have drilled new holes in the box. Iâm leaning to drilling new holes in the box, so If I have to replace the new Pioneer, itâs a drop inâŠplus I get to use the Pioneer trim ring. Mine will be exposed with the custom 4 bar grill.
Nice Solution! I like it! Iâll keep that in mind when all the parts come in and I have it all in front of me.I went the other way and slotted the holes in the speaker, used the stock trim ring and 4 bar grill. This way i could go back to stock easily. Either way works.
You should see all the stuff I have to pack around. I have two duffle bags stuffed with equipment shoved into the trunk. Was going to trade the DH Premium for a Blackwing 6 cyl. Then I looked at the cubic feet of trunk space. Hah! Too small. Then it does seem like a trouble magnet. Almost got hit twice in one week on multiple weeks. So I got a base GT and sold it to a guy who goes to the raceway. He's going to look great racing. Has Steeda short stroke shift, and Steeda H-pipe, G-Force alloy hub half shafts in it. So he's good to go. He's Whippling it with a blue ember SC Stage 2. Can't wait to see him race. Thanks again to all for the advice! For sound I guess Iâm not going for perfection, just better than stock crapâŠ.lol.
Cucuruâ, I understand stressing over a perfect car. Or worse, a perfect expensive carâŠ.lol. Those first few rock chips can really hurt, and perfect cars seem to be idiot magnets on the road. I had my car only 3 days and had to dive into the shoulder because some brain dead old lady took a turn so wide she was coming straight at me fully in my lane! I was shaken to say the least.
Iâm going to keep my sub in the stock enclosure. As cool as a custom sub box is, sometimes I need every bit of trunk space for stuff I bought. There have also been times where folding down the seats was a must for larger items. TBH, in my 06 GT the seats were folded down all the time and I was always stuffing stuff in there. You wouldnât believe the stuff I used to pack in that car!

It really isn't that bad. Apart from the Sub and centre speaker all of the other speakers are non-paper cones now and far from the cheapest speakers known. There are myriad other cars with much poorer systems.ThanksâŠwill keep that all in mind!
The Pioneer comes with a trim ring, I thinkâŠso will see how it all goes together when itâs all here.
Why Ford is so proud of this B&O system, I donât know. maybe the brand name sounds good, all the while using the cheapest speakers known to man.
I hear people just unplug it. They say the car sounds better after. No idea. Going to upgrade separates up front and rear, with a four channel small amp. Sub will be a spare tire Cerwin-Vega with built in amp.Cucuruâ. Mustang GT can fit a lot of stuff! More than most think.
Greg: Thatâs a bit reassuring to know about the general stock speaker quality. Not ready to change the center speaker yetâŠsounds like I have to remove the dash? Yikes!
No dash removal. Grill pops off (metal clips) and speaker has 2 screws. New speaker bolts right in. I cut wires off of old speaker and soldered to new speaker. And since their sold in pairs, you can sell second one.Not ready to change the center speaker yetâŠsounds like I have to remove the dash?
