Adding brembo brakes

I don't think you have to race to appreciate great brakes.

You don't. These cars have great acceleration and power and one of the most important pieces of safety equipment for these cars are the brakes. Yea, 4 piston, even 2 piston calipers up front will eventually stop the car, but not as well and as quick as the 6 pistons w/4 piston rears.

You could very likely be loosing some brake performance only doing the front. The rears won't get close to locking up like the front will. ABS is not brake balance. It to correct when you don't. You add more piston surface area and a larger rortor, the rears won't contribute as much unless the similar thing is done in the rear more piston surface area and larger rotors.

Basically, the more powerful front brakes will be making the base model rear brakes not work as hard as they could for the same pressure sent to the fronts.

To balance by only doing the front, the base model rears need more pressure to balance.

I know some of the explorer ST rear brakes are used in the mustang performance pack.

I;d go over a mustang parts catalog. Check the master cylinder and any proportioning valve for different part numbers.

I thought the rears use ST calipers, but the brackets were different. Not sure if the rotors were different too.

old school hot rodding with different front brakes, you need an adjustable proportional valve to make the rear contribute more or less for the same pedal pressure. Modern cars balance this out with certain sized pistons.

I’ve checked with my Dealership nearby and asked for some pricing should I want to add the, as Joe Raiti calls them “Tomato Sauce Red” Brembo‘s to my car. He came back at a tune of $2,500 for the complete job, labor included and it’s basically a Brake job in the end. Needless to say that when that time comes I’ll be switching to them. Until then, these will do just fine.

Sounds about right. You could get it done cheaper somewhere else, but I'd rather Ford do it for warranty purposes.

$US2500 installed would be a bargain down here. Probably cost here $NZ6000 - $8000 plus $1000 labour.

That’s what I did.
Their wheeling and dealing on the 2024’s & 25’s.
Try to deal with the General Manager.
They are the ones who set the price.
Here in Colorado the Ford Dealerships only think they can sell Mustangs from May to September.

I spoke to someone who did the conversion, and it's not all that difficult. The parts are all plug and play. But it is an extensive list. I got a line on some 2024 take-off brembos from a 24 GT. I did confirm the auto e-brake works with the rear brembos. Going to price it all out with a shop and see if it's worth it.

Plan B will be just getting the front kit from LMR.

but thats only if you attempt the dual parking brake setup and drift brake conversion. otherwise the calipers should bolt fine to the regular gt knuckles.

Yeah, I've never understood the whole drift brake thing. It sure does seem gimmicky to me.

PP wheel and tire package is terrible but drift brake is the other reason I didn't order performance pack

I love those wheels and tires...on my premium. Lol

But yeah if I were actually tracking the car both would need an upgrade.

actually, every S650 with the Brembo brakes, regardless of with a drift brake or not, has the different rear knuckle. this is because the Brembo rear caliper does not have the built-in parking brake functionality like the single piston one does; leading to the requirement of the mini caliper
