There are two things I believe Ford missed the mark on. One is discussed here, and the other is (was) no lock/unlock light in the switches.

You're lucky my dark horse is so dark, that if i don't start it soon i've entered into the car (so the buttons are lighted), everything goes dark fast enough to the point that i can't even locate the start button. I mean it's the damn START button, its backlight should stay ON as along the vehicle is "open" (ready to drive) and not locked.

(and I didn't mentioned the fact that they have removed the light from the glovebox, so if you're looking for something inside there, I need to use the cellphone torch).

Kinda makes you wonder how humans managed to enter and start their vehicles prior to the 1990s (or whenever all the passive illumination was added to cars and trucks) ...

480/500HP rear wheel drive monsters and people are complaining about a few lights. :lipssealed:

I didn't know you were all NASCAR pilots .... :D ...geez guys it's a daily car, missing a light in the glove box where you store your documents, and having to search for the right one with a torch is something from '70... :D
And between the START button on the S550 stay illuminated as along I remain in the car.. that makes sense, it's the first button you'll need to turn everything on.

Before there were Internet discussion forums ... I wonder if our grandfathers sat around living rooms drinking Old Fashioneds and Tom Collins while complaining that their car's start button wasn't illuminated ... :giggle:

We had a glovebox light in the early year S550's (I think up to 2019). For as many times as I have gone into my glovebox over the past six years I do not think I would miss it. But that's just me.

As far as the start/stop button, I never even look for mine. Muscle memory takes care of that. I just get in and reach for it. But, if needed, you can use the same flashlight you use for the glovebox (if you can find it) :giggle::like:

Nah, they complained when they moved the ignition switch from the dash to the steering column.

I wouldn’t worry about not have a Light in the Glove Box to retrieve you documents.
The police 👮 Officer who just pulled you over has a Flashlight 🔦.

I ordered a 72 Gran Torino Sport with what I thought had everything. Turns out I forgot the courtesy light package. It only had a dim interior roof light. Lucky for me my winter beater 61 Chevy Impala had all the lights which I soon installed in the Torino. If lights are needed then figure a way to put them in.

They removed the shifter light for Gen 2 in 2018. Strictly cost cutting.
Cost cut,

We only hear this term from American companies, especially Ford, and not from Korean, Japanese, or even European companies! They've made significant cost savings with the Mustang by controlling the climate and everything else via a screen, and the screen itself is a cost-saving measure for the company, yet they're asking an astronomical price for the car.

Because Ford bet stupidly on the EV lineup, which not only was not ready for prime time, sales were below expectations and at a loss. Ford made up the per unit loss by amortizing it across the model line.
