It’s not a coincidence that the prices started raising more than normal once it was announced that the Camaro and Challenger/Charger were going away.

Not really - inflation was much higher then which is why the prices were rising!

LOL is right. A base ecoboost Mustang is priced fair. Bump up to a premium with heated steering wheel/seats and navigation and the price starts getting ridiculous. Not to mention buying a GT, GT Premium or higher. Of course a Ford rep is going to say it's priced right.

In Ford's defense, the current Mustang's price is in line with those from 30 years ago, accounting for inflation. A 1995 Mustang GT coupe with standard equipment started around $21,500. That equals approximately $46,000 today, a bit less than the 2025 Mustang GT's starting price of $47,055.

Other cars like the Miata that used to cost about the same in 1999 haven't seen similar price increases

It does because alternatives to the Mach-E within the Ford stable will start taking sales from it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that GM sells almost 50% more EV's than ford

however, they sell quite a few more models. So more sales overall but they didn't have an individual model that sells more than the Mach E this past year

I did read it. I stand by what I said. Base Mustang is priced reasonable. Anything up from the base Mustang with extras gets ridiculous.

Sure, the Miata has only gained 40hp, but the Mustang had 90 less HP than the Camaro back then so it was pretty easy to beat.

Even still, that justifies the price increase? Basically has the same power as the LT1 and 6.4 Hemi

Grasping at straws now lol The GT went from 260hp in 1999 to 480/486hp today.

Even the turbo Miata was pretty weak. Should have put the Mazdaspeed 2.3 in it!

No, I don't think it's worth that huge difference. A base Mustang starts around $32,000. For me, a base GT is not worth 30%+ more. I wanted a GT when I bought my ecoboost. The main reason I didn't get it was price. The second was worse gas mileage. I didn't really care about the extra power. I just wanted the power sound a GT gives. Just the sound but, wasn't willing to throw away $10,000 just to hear it. Actually, I think it was $8000 extra in 2018 when I bought my current ecoboost. Still wasn't willing to throw that much away to hear the nice sounding exhaust.

Inflation no doubt played a part, but the biggest price increases were in 2023 with the introduction of the S650 and in 2024 for the 2025 model year. US inflation in 2023 was 3.4% and in 2024 was 2.7%. Most real world builds increased by 4 or 5 thousand dollars for the 2025 model year. That's a nearly 10% increase on a 50K car.

EDIT: I'm not against prices going up (because obviously that happens every year) nor am I against Ford making a profit on these cars. I have stated in multiple threads that I want the Mustang to be successful. I've owned mulitple and I consider myself a Mustang enthusiast, which is why I'm a member here. What I think is ridiculous are large price increases with absolutely no additional content or value, which is what we've gotten for 2025. I think consumers have voted with their wallets, which is why this whole thread exists. And if 2024 was bad, wait until the numbers for 2025 come in with the additional price hike.
