“ Yet just a few months ago the Dark Horse beat the M2 in a comparison test. What gives? Well, this isn’t a comparison test. Each contender is instead competing against our criteria”
The 2025 G87 M2 received an LCI refresh and a power bump so it should be an improvement over the 2024 G87 M2. Did the DH receive a mid cycle refresh in 2025?

Doesn’t matter, wasn’t my words it was theirs, subjectively objective

Quite possibly the best M car developed in the 21st century...

...so more likely than not the E30, E36, and possibly E46 are still better than this current gen M2, going by that technicality. Interesting...

I can only compare what I was buying with my S650 to the M2. In the end I felt the M2 was a better value. Others may differ. Yes the M2 was a few thousand more than the S650 I was getting, but I also lease and the M2 leased better than the Mustang as well. Forgetting the fact that my build can't even be built now as it got pushed to a 2025 and they dont' offer Splash Yellow. Ford made the decision for me.

I just want to add, I love Mustangs. I loved my S550 after getting out of an E92 M3 that I had for almost 8 yrs. I defend the Mustang from the fanbois on the BMW sites as well.

I am coming in here way late and did not read through the thread but didn't Ford say S650 through 2030 with a refresh in 27?

And if we are bench racing just get a Model 3 and spank the lot of them for 1000s less

They don’t count the model 3 as a “real car”
I work for ford and even I think my girl’s next car will be a used model 3 perf.
They’re undeniable.

Hell had plaids been priced in 23 what they are now I probably wouldn’t have bought my mustang and would have a used plaid for the same money.

FYI the new one is a good bit better all around

In a straight line, sure.

On a curvy road or a track day? The Model 3 doesn't have the brakes to keep up with a skilled driver.

Easily fixed and still come in less $
Unfortunately, there is no easy fix that gets you 911 or Dark Horse levels of braking. You're looking at burning piles of money fixing that shortcoming.

For less than a DH and WAY less than a 911 the Model 3 ran a 1:34.71 at Laguna. That is pretty damn fast.

But yes, it is modified.
