If a 4 door version emerges, it'll be from a different prototype. These spy shots clearly show a 2 door car....watch
haha, that’s pretty good. I know I’m stating the obvious here, but the car is clearly apexing a small hill with some gusto in the photo and maxing out(or close to it) the suspension travel. With that lift kit they got on it . they sure did a good job disguising it to make it look like a 2023 Pontiac Aztec.
The first S197 mules appeared in the summer of 2002, but the first actual test shots like these weren't out until April 2003. Would have to check mag archives to see old spy shots. Chazcron leaked CADs I hear in late 2003, before January 2004 reveal. So, historically, what has the timeline been for the slow stripping of the heavy camo? And also the official reveal? What a job it must be to design the camo for these prototypes.
Fair.Bro, the entire car is covered in thick camo. Maybe reserving judgement for now would be the best approach.
Thanks for the info, it’s pretty fascinating how this all works. Most of it is completely invisible to people who aren’t enthusiasts like we are. I didn’t follow it all when the other mustangs went through the process as I had other interests at the time. The first S197 mules appeared in the summer of 2002, but the first actual test shots like these weren't out until April 2003. For the S550, got the first shots on June 10, 2013, didn't see nada until August 20, 2013, when a real leak exposed the front end during engine cooling testing. Ford kept it covered up until December 5, 2013 reveal, then we started spotting lightly covered cars until about mid-2014, when S197 production ended and retooling began for S550 Job 1.
I think a reveal could be in as little as 2-3 months to 10 months from now.
The Bronco was first seen 2 years ago today, with the idea they'd reveal it 2 months later. Ford started test leaking shots of it in February 2020 for that reason. Pandemic messed that up for 4 months.
The new Ranger? Ford put it out for sight 1 year ago, with the idea to reveal it later in 2021. Ultimately with delays, it got revealed in late November.
Ford leaves cars stripped at random, close to reveal.
Wait a minute, are you showing me two different cars? Because I can't tell the difference. Both have 4 wheels, clearly the same design, how derivative of Ford designers. With that lift kit they got on it . they sure did a good job disguising it to make it look like a 2023 Pontiac Aztec.
Regarding reveal dates, I could see ford teasing or revealing it on April 17 for the mustangs anniversary, or revealing it for the Detroit auto show in September. The first S197 mules appeared in the summer of 2002, but the first actual test shots like these weren't out until April 2003.
