Hi all!,

just got a 24 5.0 premium 10R80. Previous owner only did H-PIPE RESONATER DELETE and k&n Typoon Cold air Intake. I noticed a whistling noise when I accelerate mostly present when my foot is more than halfway down and it seems to go away at higher speeds. Is this normal with a cold air intake? Just getting into the car scene now, so I apologize for asking a stupid question. I had one of my buddies tighten up everything in regards to the intake and he told me he “couldn’t hear” what I was talking about. It just sounds like a whistle. Does anyone else have this set up or anything similar and hear what I hear? Thank you again in advance, and I look forward to being a part of this community.

I have a whistle sound coming from the gear it is more noticeable at low speeds the dealer told me that is normal in the 10r80 it feels like super charger noise
You can’t hear mine when revving while stationary, only when I actually “push down” on the gas pretty firmly while accelerating . Don’t tell me I have to deal with this forever lol I was convinced that it is the cold air intake. Do you have a video?

can't get the noise on video try and put the car on quiet mode if you have active exhaust and see if you can here it while stationary

and the noise for me becomes more audible when the gear temp gets to 90c but maybe you have different noise all together

Noise not present when stationary at all, only when actually in drive and driving. When I’m accelerating I can differentiate the whistle and the exhaust, but only when I’m actually foot down on the throttle. One of my techs at my job said he couldn’t hear it at all so I’m drawing blanks

Pop the intake hoses off and see if he removed the filters. I noticed a very slight whistling noise but not loud enough to matter, after I removed the filters inside the intake. Or just undo the bolt that holds down the intakes, loosen the clamps on ur throttle body and air filter, rotate the intake hose upward carefully (so u don't put stress on the MAF sensor wiring) and pull off the cone filter and look down inside the hose. If you see the white spiral filter in there, then that isn't the cause. If you don't see the filter, that **may** be the cause.

Welcome to the Forums. :fistbump:

No need to apologize. It benefits everyone to ask the question.

I'd like to hear the sound, but I lean towards it being the intake.

After removing the carbon trap :bandit:and changing the stock filter with an aftermarket one :muscle::giggle: I've noticed a slight whistle under acceleration. It's neither annoying or concerning. Sometimes I make note of it. Sometimes not. It is not a loud sound.

New (to you) car, and, we tend to be hyper-sensitive to any noises we hear. So there's that.

If something was installed incorrectly, I feel you'd notice other tells. Lack of smooth idle, stumbles or fits, unexplained low MPG, wrench lights, etc.

In the video that I just put in this thread, keep in mind it is only under load, I cannot replicate the sound when stationary, everyone around me with mechanical knowledge is just telling me it’s the sound of the intakes and the fact that the S650 has two gigantic intakes that’s what could be amplifying the noise, it’s not comparable to a turbo whoosh or anything it literally just sounds like a high-pitched whistling that you can hear in the video. I put the exhaust and quiet mode so you can hear it more.

Mine whistles like a bird after carbon delete, and the Steeda filters. Sounds awesome and totally normal at WOT

Did you hear mine in the video? Mine isn’t exactly at WOT, but more so just halfway acceleration, I feel like I’m psyching myself out for no reason LMAO

I think the intake sounds normal.

Attached is a picture of what these filters look like. At shutdown, there is still some unburnt fuel in the intake system, gasoline which can vaporize and escape to the atmosphere. The material of the trap captures and absorbs those fumes.

Removing the trap/s and installing an aftermarket Cold Air Intake will change the sound. Installing the CAI by itself can also change the sound.

My 2025 mustang also makes the same noise. It kinda reminds me of a supercharger wine.
It seams to come and go.
