Question: Do we think the same melting would happen with High Output Green cats from Kooks?
this is why I always pound the table on getting cats off boosted cars.
And no, kooks green aren’t any safer, after market stuff is more likely to break down digging through mustang6g

I know not everyone can due to their local state laws and stuff.

Does your car stink at red lights?

No, the big issue with that is cars that don’t have tailpipes out the back, like a foxbody with axle dumps.

if I’m in an enclosed area like a garage it can be noticeable sure on 93/petrol based… on E30 there is enough alcohol that I never notice a thing.

So how do vehicles like the Raptor R, GT500 & now the GTD manage to make warrantable for 100k cats?

It would seem to me that the stage 1 whipple ought to be able to work and not destroy the cats.
I get stage 2 and beyond is changing the equation, but how are the supercharged 5.2 cats able to survive? Different config? materials?

@smurfslayer

on the predator/ raptor R they have a much stronger honeycomb construction and are larger 2-3/4” so they are able to flow much more and are less prone to collapsing

as a matter of fact for cars that DO want to run cats those would be ideal, I’ve seen someone on mustang6g iirc run GT500 cats on their GT, cut weld BS… more trouble than it’s worth though

excellent info!

sounds pretty darn pricey, but, probably good insurance if you must have cats.

It seems negligent to be selling cats that melt with expected temperatures from a Whipple kit.

better cats and they control the tune. Cat over temp protect

someone at ford/whipple/dodge does the math and decided the cats would be "good enough"

I agree; something seems amiss here. Going to ask around and do some research.

Stage 1. Never had any e30/85 run through it. I always use 93 octane.
Good to know there is a theory out there if people use e30 it kills them fast as the 55lb injectors have enough to be safe the engine but not enough for cat over temp protection enrichment so they melt
