What do you think the average age for owning a Mustang is?

It will be cool to see the average age of every owner here and the type of Mustang they drive.

I saw a post on another website last night, where this college kid posted a 25’ Dark Horse. With the caption “ what college kid can afford this?”, most of the comments were “Daddy‘s money!”, but that got my thinking. If people see a young person driving in your Mustang, and the immediate impression is daddy‘s money. What is the standard age of people buying a S650?

I’m 21 and just bought a 25’ 60th anniversary GT Premium Convertible. This was entirely my money, as I own my own business and I am lucky enough to make enough money to buy myself a nice car at a young age.

You should edit this and allow people to put in their age range.

Personally, I think the Mustang is one of those cars that bridges all age groups. I'm 49 years old, but I've owned 8 Mustangs in my life. My first car was a Mustang at age 17.

1. You can have this same discussion about Corvettes and most of the traditional legendary cars from the 60s.
2. Sadly, regulations and insurance have conspired to make it difficult for young buyers to afford any new car, and anything with a hint of performance is almost uninsurable.
3. The average teenager today is into video games and computers. Gone are the interests in team sports and hot rods that marked the childhood of Boomers
4. Those under 25 who can afford a car, are more likely to go the route of buying an older car.
5. I live in a college town and there are plenty of Mustangs driven by students, but most students are driving four door sedans and SUVs because they can hold more friends, and their parents are paying for it. A lot of them have the family's old pickup, so Dad had an excuse to buy a new one.

My daughter has a new 24 Dark Horse with Tremec she bought straight cash. She's 22 and is some kind of computer wizz. For what she makes a new yearly model could be had every year. But instead of that she chose to help her family purchase new Mustangs. My closest relatives now own 12 assorted types of Mustangs. I'm 63 and have owned two. But one doesn't really count. It was also a 24 GT. Found a Dark Horse Premium top model loaded, bought it, and sold my Whipped 300a base model.

Speaking only for myself! OLD!

I suspect I'm the oldest one here at 85 years of age. I did buy a baby-poop-yellow Mustang back when I was 39 (1979), and yes it was a turbo. The suck-through turbo was a near disaster, but it was what it was. The purchase was almost a necessity, as I needed a car right now! Basically the same happened when I bought my 2024 Eco-Boost due to an accident (her fault). The difference between the models is (was) nothing short of spectacular! But let's talk about age!

Age has taught me that acting like a proverbial road-jester (Remember I coined that phrase!) is a sure-fire prescription for a traffic ticket, or worse, a suspension. I need my car (and my 2019 Ranger) to complete my living necessities. I don't work, but I do keep as busy as I can. Keeps me young, at least in health and body. Speaking of which.

I like (and watch) a couple of the YouTube video channels, specifically those involving car chases. Unless you live under a rock, you'd certainly notice never seeing an Eco-Boost doing their best to outrun the proverbial gendarmerie! There is a good reason for this, as us older folk are a bit more practical. So do your best to think about that word practical the next time you decide to be a road-jester!

You can create a poll thread, with as many choices as you like.

You could have two sections, with the voter responding to age, in 10-year increments and trim (Eco, GT, DH).

More detailed still, more choices: "20-30 EcoBoost", "20-30 GT", "20-30 DH". And later 31-40...and on.

64, 2024 base GT, this is my 8th Mustang. I've had 20+ Chevelles and El Caminos over the last 25 years, but our daily drivers have all been Fords, with one exception.
