Not much traction when the temps are below 40 on mine. I've had it less than a week and already ordered some high performance all season. Widest I could find was

I was under the impression it was composition not composure that determined the < 40/45 limit
This isn't just for this tire but most 'summer only' tires. The composition of the rubber makes them harden below certain temps. Not only will that be a safety issue (lack of traction), but the rubber will crack. Tire warranty is often voided on many 'summer only' tires used below temps defined by the manufacturer.

90+ mile first drive impressions, ~48* in N GA foothills, track mode only:

*couldnā€˜t stand it any more, had to get out
*the big Trofeos weren’t any worse in cool weather than PS4s. They do tramline a little
*the tramlining doesn’t matter because between that and the Tremec this car needs strong driver input anyway. If you want a boulevard cruiser, look elsewhere
*This is without any doubt the best handling and driving rear drive car I’ve ever sat down in
*I wouldn’t have ordered the HP but I love it. Ride difference is negligible and I still clear speed bumps
*I don’t know what you could do to kick the back end out in a curve but it would have to be stupid
*the engine is a thing of beauty. Torque delivery between 2000 and 4500 rpm is nothing short of amazing. 500 hp Coyote/Tremec/3.73s just work
*I love the sound and response of a big NA V-8. It’s louder than my Mach 1s and fast AF
*My steering feel is back! Firm, precise and planted. No more of that light feel I noticed with my 650 GT
*I really like this car!

Thereā€˜s more but this’ll do for now

I agree with your impressions! The DH is worth the extra cash over the GT. You should check out this video. The DH has the best stopping power for a car that has a curb weight close to 4000 pounds. In addition the sound of the engine alone is amazing under acceleration and manual Tremec is perfect match for the engine.
