I know this is an old thread but I wanted to toss in my $0.02 on this - those people are looking at a base model GT versus an unoptioned DH and complaining about the price difference. You are effectively getting a fully loaded 401A - Plus 14 more HP - when you make that jump, and IIRC according to the build website the Dark horse would cost a smidge less than a FOO GT Premium.

People are looking at the wrong numbers. It's not worth arguing with a willingly uninformed person IMO.
I personally don’t care what Mustang people choose to pursue.
It’s not my money or their money.
I had a chance to purchase a Dark Horse 🐎 at invoice.
Sitting on the showroom floor.
It had a dead battery, they got it started. We took it for a test drive. We loved it.
We were going a take it for the weekend. They’re gonna put a new battery in it and we’re gonna take it for the weekend.
My wife, of 54 years of marriage, as you know women are different than we are.
We had to go home and she had to fix dinner. So we left the Dark Horse sitting there.
Going to come back on Monday to make the purchase
My wife’s best girlfriend said the Dark Horse 🐎 was a race car and we shouldn’t buy it.
The next thing, we didn’t buy it so we got a GT Premium instead. What a bummer. If the car wasn’t black. I thought I still would have had a chance. Also if the Battery wasn’t Dead we would have made a the purchase the same day.
Please enjoy your New Mustang regardless of what Model you choose.
They all say Mustang and will turn peoples heads.
Not everyone can afford, a Ford Mustang.
Side Bar,
Two days ago I received a large box in the mail and it had a Dark Horse plaque weighing about 8 pounds. It had a poster, a cover for the six speed gear shift knob. A hard cover book & a chassis number plaque ?? 404 & some of the miscellaneous items. I took it back to the dealer yesterday and they said.keep it.
Some how , my order for the dark horse went through and they sent me this Dark Horse 🐴 kit.

Been married over 25 years....never been told once what I can or cannot do. Same applies to her. Maybe because we met in our late 30's and were already fully formed independent people. But hey, every couple dynamic is different.

That said, a GT Premium is not the worst option to end up with. He could have been forced to buy a Dodge Caravan. 😳

How long, or how many times have you been married?
They have the VAG veto, never forget it.
Starter marriage of 30 years, 2 months plus some time living in sin and still goin strong. She has never compelled or tried to coerce me into any kind of major purchase or tried to sack a purchase I made. She did, wrongly, extend a lease on a Tercel without telling me when we first got married. It cost her and we’ve discussed subsequent vehicle purchases. She has helped me shop, green lighted bike purchases, and helped me find my Raptor.
TBF, she did scoff when I suggested if she really loved me she’d have bought it for me…

If you’re serious about getting strong armed out of buying what you want, assuming you can afford it and you’re responsible you should seriously consider discussing it one to one and possibly marriage counseling.

Obviously, if it’s “never your fault “, and you have a track record of poor life choices then the counseling is more for you than her

If getting married means having to ask permission to buy things, I'll pass 🤣. Especially when it comes to cars because most of them don't understand our fixation on them.

OK, I was kidding actually.
My wife is similar, we discuss every purchase except cosmetics, clothes and hair stuff ( for her) and I don't want to know anyway. It'd probably be worth more than a Whipple every year.
When I mentioned buying the Mustang she jumped at it. Probably fondly remembering a trip she did in one to the south of England in the 90's.
