Updates to the car from Ford, automatically done or do you have to ask for them?

As stated in the title, do the updates for the car come from Ford without our asking (and do we get some notice on the screen that this is being or has been done?) We’ve only owned ours for less than a month now, and have not seen anything related to this from Ford, and ours was a still new leftover 2024, and I know some updates must have been issued since then, right?

If you set it up correctly (automatic) it updates without your input. You'll know if it happens, as it resets the interior colors and a couple of other minor details.

Go online or on your screen and check the owner's manual. My understanding is that there's two ways updates come in. One, while you drive. Two, using the screen, you must select a time for updates, usually over night when not driving. Car must be locked etc. as required by instruction manual. This is as far as I got a couple of days ago.

As the cars come from the factory, no changes needed to get all updates... (as they become available for your car).

I called FORD.com three days ago and they told me that I had to set the updates. A tech guided me into the correct screen, and I set the non-running updates to 1 AM. The fellow gave me this info after I gave him my VIN. Is everything automatic? Who knows?

BTW...I got two separate e-mails in the past month from FORD asking me to set a schedule for my updates. My car was built around March of 2024. I never noticed any indications of updates. I drove it from 7/24 to 11/24 and parked it until April 2025. I had it on a battery tender during storage. When I started the car in late April I got no update messages.
