So here is an odd situation, that I'm hoping I'm just missing the obvious.....

2024 Mustang GT Premium with 401A.....the trunk release button on the dash is not working. The trunk release works just fine using the button under the rear deck lid or via the key fob.

I have had the car for roughly a week, and while a 2024, it was bought new from the dealer, so no aftermarket shenanigans (I hope lol).

My first thought was to check the fuse (#16 in the under hood fuse box) and too my surprise there was no fuse at all??? I attempted to put a 10amp fuse into the slot and while the fuse dropped down to the same height as the other fuses, it didn't really clip into place. I removed it and it doesn't really look like there is anything for it to clip into.

I'm guessing the key fob and the button under the deck lid work on a separate fused circuit than the dash button....

So thoughts on the missing fuse? Or is it on a different fuse and possibly a faulty button in the dash?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Did you have the FOB in your pocket when you pushed the button on the dash?

I have tried it both ways....keys in pocket and key inside the house no difference

I have the fob in my pocket all the time pushing the trunk release button on the dash. Works everytime. I would look into pulling the control assembly on the dash to make sure the connectors are seated. If one isn't handy I would take it to the dealer for warranty.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order. Good luck hope they fix it for you.

If your trunk release button never worked, and there's no fuse connection in slot #16. there's something wrong....I think. The manual is all I have to refer to.

That's what I'm thinking...just was hoping I missed something simple to avoid a trip to the dealer

If you think that's embarrasing. I was driving cabs for a while, I saw a cabbie use touch unlocking on her Toyota. So I asked her about it and she showed how it worked.
That night I was telling my wife about it, and she said our 6 month old GT86 has that.🙄

I’ve had this happen to me a couple of times, both on the doors and the trunk, but it turns out that the key will stop transmitting after a bit of time unless I violently shake the key.

Ok....just to close this thread.....I "fixed" the button by smacking the side of the dash. Literally.

I must have had a bad diagram to start, as the fuse slot DID have a fuse when I looked at another diagram. I noticed the side of the dash next to the button had a sight "bulge" and I pushed on it. The button light came on and it began to work, but it didn't stay. I smacked the area I pushed in in frustration and it has been fine since. Quality is Job#1! lol
