Since, as far as I know, Mustang GT's don't have dip sticks or a transmission fluid change recommendation, what are other's doing to keep good fluid in their 10 speed automatic transmissions? Thanks, FD

Not ordering the 10 speed auto to begin with. 💩 Get the 6 speed manual!

Joking aside, just change the fluid every 30-40k miles.
Don't listen to any lifetime fluid nonsense. What does lifetime mean... basically until the warranty period is up. Manufacturers would prefer to keep that dirty fluid in the car to help wear out the vehicle faster and sell you yet another new car.

I am obviously not buying into any "lifetime fluid nonsense" and I own a 2025 GT, 10 speed automatic which I like. Had I wanted a six speed, I would have ordered one. Everyone has their preference for their own reasons. Also, on Page 438 in the 2025 GT owner's manual there is nothing about an automatic transmission but thanks anyway.

That said, back to the original question: " What are other's doing to keep good fluid in their 10 speed automatic transmissions? Additionally, how are other's changing out their transmission fluid? Thanks, FD

I was going to do this myself on my ‘19 did the research and eventually decided to take it to someone I could trust. I bought the kit from LMR and had it changed out at 35k. Much easier for me and paid 2hrs labor. Look on the M6G forum for information.

@Frogdog1 ..... good choice on the 10R80 .... you will smoke any 6 speed in a drag. You can use the paddles for shifting fun too. I give the 6 speed an edge on the track but IMO on every other metric the 10R80 smokes the 6 speed. Tranny oil change intervals answer is "it depends" - if you aren't tracking it or running it up to red line and decelerating it real hard (though there is supposed to be an idiot proof downshift nanny) then go by the time/miles. I drive mine 7 months of the year so I could wait longer than if I drove it year round. I paddle shift a fair bit but not real hard - so I'll start thinking of it at 5 years or 30K miles. I "finally" changed the tranny oil on my 2014 after 8 years and the fluid was in great shape. I sold it to a friend when it was 10 (2024) and it's still awesome. We go for drives with them every week. He plans to change it at five years too. Obviously this is a personal use question "that depends" on a lot. One thing for sure - for your peace of mind and based on how you drive if you change the tranny oil earlier - say ay 3 years 15K miles you sure won't hurt the tranny.

Thanks Mat1955. I don't even see a tranny dip stick. Is there one on the 2025 GT?

@Frogdog1 ...... you could google it to see location. I believe it was a plastic cap on the passenger side of the transmission housing UNDER the car on my 2014. I see where RLE55 has posted the interval of 150K miles. As I said, when I changed the tranny oil on my 2014 after 8 years it still looked awesome so I don't dispute the 150K Ford claim. BUT - I will change my 2024s at four or five years (I'm ocd about maintenance) even though the mileage won't be anywhere near 150K miles. I don't mind spending the money.

Thanks RLE55, we aren't looking at the same manual apparently.

And, MAT1955, no way my transmission fluid is going 150,000 miles. This is, strangely, the only manual I've seen to change brake fluid every 3 years though, except for motorcycles and that does make a big difference when DOT 4 is required.

Anyway, thanks all for the help. Yes, I too am OCD about maintenance. My stuff came with a lot of hard work and I'm not an equipment slob.

I'm sure there will be more questions because I haven't owned a Ford in a long long time.
