I am pleasantly surprised that Ford specifies 200,000 mi Coolant and 150,000 mi transmission fluid maintenance intervals for my Mustang. For example, my Honda needs transmission fluid changes every 25,000 miles. Congratulations to Ford.

I used to think like this but found that you can (usually) do more harm than good poking at it more than needed.

thats also not the full story, the mileage seen there is the EOL situation for the fluid, but EVERY service interval says to check coolant and trans fluid.

Yeah, your use case has a LOT to do with it. If you track the car, even the occasional drag race / time trials, you’re on the severe duty schedule, not the long interval schedule.

By following these, you will kill your car. Test the coolant every oil service for propper PH level- that is the true test, "witness sticks" are available everywhere.

Rear axle fluid, huh, owners manual says after every track day, so how can it really be good for that duration?

All manufactures put out these crazy durations to keep "the total costs of ownership" down to be competitive in the market.

All fluids should be changed more often, relevant to how many years/miles you keep your vehicles. In my life and line of work, I plan on 400k and 20 years. Make these benchmarks with all of our vehicles.

That is what I did in my S197 and I have had zero mechanical issues in almost 16 years.
