Not sure why this thread is news :giggle:

That button has been there since the S650 came out and doubles up as a press and long hold for disabling the speed limit warning sound where fitted on later cars / other markets.
Simple….Because some people just got the car.

I am in the minority, but I find that button useful for driving on military bases and in my neighborhood. It is easy to end up 10-15mph over the speed limit. It simply keeps me out of trouble with the MPs that are always on a power trip

When I first picked up my car this feature was activated in the settings and it drove me nuts. Took me a couple days to figure it out. Its the second worst feature to be put in a car since ASS.
Same here.. I thought my car was broken :)

I was going down a hill with foot of the gas pedal and accidentally hit the button and did not know it and at the bottom of the hill the car coasted with engine running but pressing the gas pedal did nothing. I had to shut down the engine and then restart the car and that fixed the problem. I was happy that no cars were sitting on my bumper. I learned a lesson!

I’ve been out ofthat world for a minute but that’s a solid use for the feature. I got lit up on Fort Meade years ago for ‘driving with aux lights on’. I was dubious, sat there for a bit, 2nd time he came back fishing I politely asked for the stop rationale and when he said it I asked for the UCMJ cite. He replied “I don’t have to tell you that” so I replied “it‘s an order”.
You’re free to go Sarge.

they never even occurred to me, so I fully get this reason; just don’t even give them an excuse.

I am retired from the Army at this point, but work for the Navy down here in Pax River. These guys have nothing but time on their hands. You get a ticket from them, it is a must appear in their little "traffic courtroom". Just don't have the time for that nonsense.

I I agree with OzzieRoss. You can set up the speed tolerance by following the 6 steps listed. Under the 6th step you can modify the maximum speed from 0 mph over the posted speed up to 4 mph over the posted speed. I have mine set at 3 mph over the posted speed. Then, whatever the posted speed is it will automatically modify your speed to what you have set it for.

Finally, this does not work in construction zones or anywhere there is a temporary slower speed zone.

Or in school zones, that’s real kicker here in Australia

Can they not search the forum and read the answer rather than asking a question to which the answer is there in black and white?
Sure would be easier if they provided a printed user manual but then again technological advancements wouldn’t be implemented and we might actially know how to use the car without having to use to car to read the manual in the car. I mean without the ‘printed’ overview that says this is how you access the manual in your vehicle we wouldn’t be able to read the manual that shows how to access the manual. And besides, the power saving feature kinda puts a damper on reading in full.

You can easily download the manual to you phone or computer. Not to mention it's in the cars infotainment system too. All of those options have a keyword search feature that makes finding what you want vastly faster than searching a paper book, or going to a car forum and posting a simple question and waiting for the answer.
