I contacted Viofo here in Australia today, asking when we might expect the rumored A229 Pro.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

The A229 Pro will be released in the middle of next month. The front
camera comes with the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 5MP Sensor and the rear with
Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 5MP Sensor.

The cable link states it comes in the box with the camera. I haven't opened mine yet.

It does but it was too long for where I wanted to put my dash cam it’s about 3ft so I ordered a 1ft with right angles to make mine a lot cleaner

Is the USB by the mirror powered when the car is off? I want my camera to work while it's parked. Avoiding running a cable to the fuse box.

Sadly it’s not but how would that work with the battery? Wouldn’t your drain the battery if you left your car for a longer period of time?

Yeah you're right. The cable I have for it has a battery monitor on it. To the fuse box it is then.

Is the USB by the mirror powered when the car is off?

It's right there in the manual.

It's a shame there isn't a small slide switch near the mirror USB port to select whether that port is always on or on during running/accessory only. Even better if you could change that behaviour in the centre stack GUI.
It's obviously intended for radar detectors only.
(Which unfortunately are illegal to have in my country )

The selectable low battery volts cut-off prevents you from draining the primary car battery.

Call me old fashioned, but if you're going to do something, do it properly!
I'd be using one of these for a proper install.

And it will place the A139 Pro into parking mode automatically.

Yep I have that cable. I figured I would have to run it to the fuse box. Just wish there was a better way.
