Just a follow up after driving today.

Because the car uses Wireless app projection for Android Auto and Apple Car Play wireless screen mirroring, connecting to the cams wifi won't work on my phone unless you disconnect the cars WAP first. Otherwise my phone just keeps cancelling out the cams wifi connection and connecting to the WAP instead.

This however is easily bypassed by simply taking out the SD card and using the supplied card reader on your phone or laptop to quickly watch and download pictures or video.

So far the video quality is excellent. And I love how you can simply press a button on the cam to take a still picture at anytime. It's great for getting a quick shot of a license plate.

I've come across some conflicting information online about how the camera button actually functions on this model. Are you able to verify if hitting it just takes a photo? Does it also lock the video file that is currently being recorded so that it cannot be overwritten by the loop recording?

Maybe it varies by how long the button is pressed? I actually installed one of these in my Mustang on Monday, but haven't had an opportunity to test this feature out yet.

I have never felt the need for a camera in one of my cars until I bought this Mustang GT. I find many people try to goat me into a race and I never bite which irritates them. tailgating, cutting me off, I am amazed at the reaction to my car. I want video if an accident occurs because of these knuckleheads. I am going to give the fitcamx a go and will report back to the group.
I thought it was just me....but I guess it isn't!

Ive used it. You literally hit the button and it takes a picture. The still photo is saved on the SD card in addition to the video. Does that answer your question?

I believe so; seems like it does a combination of both. Thanks.

Now I'll just be waiting waiting for my 256GB SD card to show up so I can replace the 64GB one that was included.

Is this model camera pretty easy to install yourself? I assume it probably has a "hardwired" option as a kit so that you can power it when the car is off?

I realize that this question was directed at Ryan, but I can confirm that the installation of the Fitcamx is incredibly simple. Took me less than 30 minutes all together, and the majority of that time was spent orienting the cables in such a way that they wouldn't get pinched and/or trying to get the app functioning.

They do offer a separate hardwire kit if you would like to take advantage of the "parking mode" feature: https://fitcamx.com/products/fuse-box-cable-kit-for-fitcamx?variant=40559252209836

Cool. Thanks! I was curious about that. I've been trying a couple of other dashcams myself but this one grabbed my attention.

For us Arizona folks, this is a killer alternative to sticking a camera to the windshield just for the adhesive to melt and end up on the dashboard/floor by the end of the week.

Huge bonus points for it looking like an OEM piece. I can't imagine that anyone near the vehicle would ever even notice that it's there unless they own an S650 themselves and spot the extra camera lens.

Exactly. Looks like it's a stock part of the car, really. I'll have to check it out. What I currently have is good and held up well thru the summer, but having something like this that looks more OEM, would be pretty cool. Thanks again for the info!

Why? You planning on saving your videos from last year? Lol

64GB is plenty. If you drive it daily it gets you about 2-3 months before it overwrites old content. If something happens and need the video, you are going to download it immediately. Not wait 3 months.

Plus, you can pull the card and save anything to your computer if your worried about losing it.

Its a 30 min install. I posted several pictures on the previous page.

It does not come with a hardwire kit. But there are instructions to do it.

Has anyone tried the fitacamx dashcam for 2024 Mustang GT S650? I was looking at the Mangoal tech camera and they still haven't produced a S650. They have a S550 and MACK-E. No 650.
I bought and installed the fitacamx dashcam for 2024 Mustang GT S650. It does what I expected it to. No issues.
