Looking great! I can't wait to do mine. I am so over accidentally putting mine in manual mode! Glenn
Same reason I ordered one from Billetworkz. I am tired of dumb-thumbing the shifter all the way back to Manual!

Though I ordered a month ago and still waiting for what I exactly ordered. To be fair, I got the engraved weighted knob in 2 days, but didn’t like how heavy the weighted knob felt. Looked like it would just wobble back and forth being so top heavy.

So the same day ordered a regular weight engraved anodized knob and brushed silver. 3 weeks later, I asked where they were, and lucky me, they said their anodizer was on vacation, so there was a delay. Last week finally got the knobs, but they forgot to engrave the GT logo on the one. They sent me a return label to send the one back so they can engrave it and send it back, skipping the anodizing process on another knob. I still have the plain brushed silver knob, but I want the install the GT knob first so I can align the set screws so the logo is level, a step I only want to do once.

To be fair, Billetworkz customer service was good, and they always replied very quickly to my emails, apologized and promised they will make it right, and immediately sent me a pre-paid return label. But for an order placed a month ago almost to the day, I’m still waiting for what I ordered to be in my hand.

Oddly enough, I paid an extra $80 for the shifter adapter for the first one, then unchecked the box for the next 2 knobs, yet they both came with the shifter adapter anyway. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I would still recommend them, I just had really bad timing on when I ordered. It figures….

I thought I was the only one that kept missing drive.

Lol….so far I’m training myself that just thumb release to go in reverse, then keep my $$#@! thumb off the shifter to go in Drive. Just pull it back, it won’t go in Manual if we can just keep our %@$! thumb off the top of the shifter. 🤬

Most times you have to go in reverse before shifting in drive, so the method works. šŸ™ƒ

That style auto shifter has better functionality than the top flap style Ford gives you. I'd like one where you pull up on the collar instead of having to push down on the knob.
How does pulling up help?
Just a more natural motion than pushung down on the collar with the knuckles. But not a choice with this car....down it is...
Sounds like there are now two of you. Congrats. 🤣
Ahhhh Ryan....The resident ballbuster. Like Stadler and Waldorf all rolled into one.

I hope your saga ends soon. When it does I am sure you'll enjoy it! Glenn

Unfortunately, you aren't! Makes me wonder if Ford ever test drove with this shift knob! Glenn
The trick is to only momentarily depress the lock-out lever shifting out of Park, and as soon as you do, release it so it can’t go all the way back into Manual.

And it’s worth saying again, since most time we go into Reverse before Drive, train your thumb to not depress the lever at all when pulling back into Drive from Reverse.

Man. Maybe it's because you guys are new to the car. Never have I ever missed Drive in my current car or my previous S550. Nor have I ever heard this complaint before in all my years on the 6g forum. I'd love to know how you manage to do this AND miss seeing the Drive selection on the dash. This is not a Ford problem. Lol.

Yes…for me It’s because I am new to this car, and the avalanche of technology it has over my previous car. I’m coming from an 06 GT I’ve been driving for 17 years. That car was like the Flintstone Mobile compared to this.

That’s a habit of 17 years of just pull all the way back from Park to Drive…no extra spot for Manual mode. You know how hard it is to undo a 17 year old habit?!?!? 😳

This gear select mechanism and paddles are new to me, the infotainment screen is like a goddamn arcade of lights and information, it’s easy to overlook whether the ā€œDā€ is showing or not.

I’ve only had the car just over 2 months and still getting used to the routine of push button start, put the drive mode in Custom, which is two clicks on the steering wheel….release the unintuitive parking brake that is not the hand brake I’ve been used to….then thumb down on the lever to shift out of park, but don’t pull back too far or I’m in manual mode. I’m also now in my 60’s and dammit if shit doesn’t stick in my head as quick as it used to.

Am I complaining?? NO! But I am explaining to you with answers to your question. I love this car, and am still getting used to all it does.

I’ve also read at least 5 different members in different threads here also accidentally put the gear all the way back in manual….so I’m not alone.

I really think the Billetworkz shifter mechanism will change that, because it’s too easy for ME to leave my thumb on top of the shifter and accidentally be able to pull back further than I wanted.

It has nothing to do with it not sticking in your head. It is, IMHO and in disagreement with AZ_Ryan, a Ford problem. It should not slip, so easily into manual mode. But each to his own. I will be changing mine when convent! Glenn
