(LONG POST)
I hope to take delivery late May or early June on a 2026 Mustang GT Premium Convertible. I have researched thoroughly 2026 issues, (some carried over from 2024, 2025). Appears that many ongoing owner complaints, defects, and issues I list below. I am hoping many of the more experienced owners are able to tell me if the noted issue has been resolved, or is still on ongoing issue that new owners should be concerned about:
Oil Leak: Specific to certain production batches, there is a confirmed recall affecting some 2026 Mustangs (including GT variants) for a potential oil leak due to a manufacturing issue in the cylinder head. Dealers will replace the cylinder head free of charge. Has this been addressed and resolved at the production level? Is this still an ongoing issue for newly produced Mustang GTs?
Computer/Infotainment Issues: Many owners of recent-generation Mustangs—including early reports for 2026 models—mention issues with infotainment and digital systems:
Build and Fit Issues: Well Ford as well as others all have issues with build and fit issues but some of the 2026 owners late 2025 complained of the following:
Because the 2026 Mustang GT is part of the current generation (S650), real-world owner forums and recall data from recent years highlight issues that might still be relevant:
FINAL THOUGHTS: The following don’t necessarily reflect widespread 2026 failures, but I felt they are common themes worth mentioning on this post. Compiling my information I have see these not only on this Forum but on several other Forums. Have you experienced any of these issues.
Although these don’t necessarily reflect widespread 2026 failures, but they are common themes. I hope this forum takes this post seriously as this information took some time to compile this for your review. I am especially interest with those who have experienced any of these issues and have they been resolved. Also would like to know which ones Ford has resolved and not considered to be an ongoing problem but was sucessfully resolved.

- Infotainment screen freezing, rebooting, or disconnecting Bluetooth/CarPlay.
- Digital instrument cluster glitches or intermittent failures.
- Hydraulic soft-top pump motor wear—early 2026 builds before a mid-year update had pumps prone to premature wear under rapid cycling.
- Rear window seal or attachment problems, potentially letting water into the cabin or the glass pulling away from the fabric.
Build and Fit Issues: Well Ford as well as others all have issues with build and fit issues but some of the 2026 owners late 2025 complained of the following:
- Panel alignment and trim fitment concerns that are typical for early production runs.
- Interior rattles or squeaks have been mentioned, though not widespread.

- Transmission roughness/hesitation (especially in automatic 10-speed models) seen in earlier Mustangs.
- Electrical system quirks, including battery drain or random warning lights, from prior models.
- Water intrusion issues, reported on convertibles leading to electrical or HVAC problems.
