Solid red dark horse lose the engine today

I posted this in the dark horse section too. He was running on a stage two whipple He did 140 in the quarter mile and then Blamo black smoke everywhere.
Really nice kid looks like he was OK, but he was smoked coming out of under the hood when he pulled over big time I talked to him earlier with stage two with no warranty man can be expensive
I was my fifth run with my Whipple stage one I decided to call it a day before the same thing happened to me at least I got on the 11th on street tires all stock 315 gears a10. I did 130 1/4 so that’s a 10 second car if I ever got money in the rear end I had Wheel hop city that’s racing.

Many years ago (circa mid 1950s) I was with my brother Rodney at the KC drag strip attending an NHRA sanctioned event (if my memory is correct). A reporter from Hot Rod magazine asked my brother what it took to get into drag racing? Without any hesitation my brother remarked... "A rich old man!" Touché!

There is a reason Ford is running in the 800HP plus or minus 10 on their Whipple kit, the engine is not reliable being thrashed to 875 HP

We see that with the Cats too, and even then there are failures where Ford deems it reliable, their tune, their hardware specs, no slicks, no long tube headers, etc.

The next gen Vette engines are allegedly going to break the 1000 HP mark, but you can bet that those are hand built, balanced to perfection, best rods, pistons, cranks, etc GM can make or source.

The same thing Ford is doing with the GTD 5.2's with a blower and again, they are advertised at 815HP even with the best parts Ford has

But the quest for speed has always involved exposing the failure point of factory parts, and the never ending quest to find parts that will not fail like their predecessors did.

It is all a function of dollars and the money curve is exponential where the incremental result gained is near flat
