Great observations Ace. I'm with you, the more I see of S650, the more I love it.

One aspect I didn't like.....or didn't appreciate at first, was the loss of the hard swage line that ran through the top of the door on S550. For me, this followed a styling cue from the '65-68, albeit S550 lost the c-scoop. However, the smoother lines of S650 echo those of the '69 and '70 models (more so the '70, as it lost the "air vent" in the hip kick up).

Exactly how I felt regarding the shoulder and swage lines. Thought they made a big mistake at first, but it's really clean and they did a great job of creating taught lines in place. The more photos we see of this thing in non-showroom lighting, the better we can realize that too.

Not even for retro's sake either; I think it's just a forward-looking design.

There more I see of the 2024, the more I love it. The lines are so much more refined then before. On Gen 6 the lines were always these bulge that combine multiple directions for give it some form. The Gen 7 is much cleaner, most edges are really just the sharp edges.

Look at the lower door line that visually shrinks the heigth, making the car look much sleeker. I love how they added the very small line at the rear to continue the lower door line to the end.

This pictures easily shows how tame the Gen 6 looks in comparison. The very soft lines and high doors jus doesn't look as aggressive and sporty as Gen 7.

For sure. Where the S550 creates the same illusion with the sucked in rocker panel trim and the small edge flares at the bottoms of its fenders, the S650 straight up emphasizes it by incorporating the lines into the entire bottom half of the profile. Love it!
Silver colors on all s550s have had great impact on the lines and showing them, see if you can find similar pics in ingot silver on the s550s the lines will for sure be more pronounced.

But agreed the S650 is improved on many levels
100% I remember seeing the official Ingot S550 press photos driving around the desert highways and they really made those body lines pop. Definitely works here as well and I'm actually impressed with how good the minimal EB ingot S650 model photos look this go around.

Not to mention I looks like they tried to bring back the hockey stick element by adding a horizontal line on the lower part of the door that kicks up into a vertical line that then flows into the rear haunches. Very cool and modern way to bring that element back.

The Rear Spoiler Lip on the 15's was great for the time and allowed a good looking Spoiler Delete, but complicated the addition of the Wings.

The 650's Flat Trunk Lid and Wedge Shape look great on its own, plus makes for a simpler, better looking merge of Fender/Trunk Lid Wing.

I think Ford realized this and the Flat Trunk Lid was Manufactured in 2 Pieces to allow for the Wings and Other Mods to Blend Better with the Base Design.

Am I the only one with many doubts about that so so long trunk lid? I've never liked spoilers but without it, it looks a bit strange and less sporty than the shorter trunk lid of the S550... It also seems to be lower than the S550 one

I maybe wrong, but I'm seeing some new Ford GT rear in the 2024.

Sorry fellas… th lower edge of that upper grille opening reminds me of Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue.

I love the S550, but the headlights on the 18+ refresh are god awful. I'm glad Ford fixed the droopy look of the front end
The 'droopy' look was the best part of the '18+ front end IMO. Just about every car these days has upward sloping headlights .... "look at me, I'm smiling!". I like the different and more unique look my '19 headlights ..., much more aggressive looking!

Oh for sure, and that line that runs along the side of the car before curving down to form a vent just behind the front wheels is quite similar to the lower line on the side of this design.

Not a fan of the deleted lower indicator etc lights, and not sure what to make of the taller, blunter and seemingly less aerodynamic front end.

Also seems to have a larger Windscreen glass area from the slightly raised roof and lowered belt-line / Firewall.
Ironically more aero than all others including S550 per Fords media release.

The lower indicators always looked really cheap and outdated to me. There were not even LEDs for non-export markets, just these old yellowish bulbs. I'm glad they integrated everything into one headlight unit, makes the frontend much cleaner and gives way more freedom to aftermarket bumpers.

Modern LED headlight usally don't need extra fog lights but just adjust the brightness of one of the LED units
My 2021 F150 King Ranch has all LED headlights and foglights. I hate the fact they didn't include the fog lights on the 2024 Mustang. Doesn't look good at all, IMO!!!

You are not the only one. I agree. I like the exterior of the s650 more and more than I did earlier, but not quite as much as I like my s550. The s650 in 'cleaner' looking than the s550, but that is not necessarily a good thing because I think it is TOO clean, especially the rear and trunk. They should have ended it with the raised lip still there, IMO.
