asked a salesperson to look it up in VIN View, it was loaded onto a railcar yesterday at 12:43 MST, train left at 16:49 MST on Canadian National Railway. ETA of 9/11/23-9/17/23

this article pretty much sums up the lines Iā€™m thinking alongā€¦

Can You Change Your Transmissionā€™s Gear Ratios?
https://www.motorbiscuit.com/can-you-change-your-transmissions-gear-ratios/

edit: favorite ref. - ā€˜super-legal speedsā€™
Apologies, didnā€™t mean to imply anything.

are the ratios you posted correct for the dh? I noticed in some info it says

1st: 4.70:1
2nd: 2.99:1
3rd: 2.15:1
4th: 1.77:1.

granted small difference from the non dh 10r but what will swapping 3.55 for 3.73 do to gears 1-3? What will that make your [g]earing in 1-3 and how does that impact your use of the powerband?

Not trying to start anything. Approaching it from the ā€˜publicā€™ build perspective. If itā€™s a public build letā€™s see / hear the logic/reasoning and share the knowledge.

the ratios i listed are directly from Ford's workshop manual; the ground truth. all versions of the 10R80 have the same gears. i'm not sure what the effect would be for gears 1-3 specifically, i just know from my simulation testing that 3.73 diff gears will be faster than 3.55 for pretty much everything without sacrificing much. with it being a daily driver, the 0-60 stuff and 60-120 acceleration do matter for the most part

i think the railcar my DH is in is being transferred over to BNSF, it's currently in NorPaul Yard outside of Chicago, a railyard that Canadian Railways and BNSF share it seems

You are on your way to be the first DH delivery reported on this forum it seems. Good luck!

this thread is inspired by the one DannyJ7 made for his EcoBoost, a place where i will keep things updated on my Dark Horse, including anything i modify on it. I always have specs and production process with dates in my signature

the project is called Azureus, because the car is blue

As of 8/22/23, the tracker has said it's shipped!

Current plans for mods:

Item
Specs/Part Number
Installed Date
Other Details
Chance of Installing
Project 6GR Seven wheels19X11" Front, 19X12" RearN/AShipped
100%
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires325/30R19 Front, 355/30R19 RearN/ANot

Could you please share the offsets for your wheels? I had no idea you could fit 355s on this car. My 2019 had 305 square setup on 11 inch wheels, and it was really close to the front strut and hard to tuck in the fender (see my pic has a bit of poke but the tire tucked in when the suspension was compressed)
I'm curious to know how you fit 325s in the front. Would you share with us how you do it?

I'd go to 325 square myself if I could.
Thanks.

full disclaimer: i dont have the vehicle or wheels yet, but the offsets for the wheels i got are +24mm front, +46mm rear. i did the math and things should work out fine, but we'll see soon. i based my assumptions on the backspacing of GT350R wheels, as i love how poke looks on wheels

very sorry for the late reply. yes, i will be able to re-tune it (i actually made a tool for that here). it will be a daily driver, but there is a reason why i am considering the 3.73. i used a program called Engine Simulator to take a re-creation of the Gen 4 5.0L V8 paired with a 10R80 and did 5 0-200mph runs for 3.15, 3.13, 3.55, 3.73, and 4.09 diff ratios. here are my results from the tests

For Time0-600-1200-20060-120120-200

Average3.153.313.553.754.09
Placing3.42.64.32.62.1

the 3.73 isn't perfect, but does well overall in performance and fuel economy, especially in daily driving tasks, and is much better at everything than the 3.55 it comes with from factory
As a research scientist the lack of labels on the X-axis is killing me lol
