If the Mustang is indeed now targeting the 911s of the world, could the "new stablemate" coming supposedly in 2025 be a new pony car entry (a traditional coupe, lift back, fastback, or maybe even a four door hatch/sedan) aimed at newcomer/potential enthusiasts?

I didn't demonstrate your point. The top of the line mustang has never been the highest selling model... You know this so why even say this.

Are you really trying to say the economy doesn't matter when selling mustangs? 😂 You chose 2015 for a reason, and that's because that's when the s550 took off, so of course there will be a decline year after year. Why didn't you choose 2014? Or 2013? Or 2012? 😂
The point was that for $75k, most buyers are going to prefer a C8 configuration over a DH configuration. The sales numbers reinforce this. Ford has a great car with the DH - it just needs to be in the $45-55k range.

We could include everything going back to 2005 if you would like.

I believe ~2005 was when the S197 was introduced, right? It started with roughly 160-165k units/year in the first two years and tapered off until ~2015 with the introduction of the S550. The S550 appeared to have peak sales in its first year at ~120k units in 2015 and it tapers off. It's early in 2024, but I think we're on track to have anywhere from 40-50k units of the new S650. The peak sales numbers within the first two years of each generation have decreased significantly.

Agreed. My Ecoboost convertible is my budget 430i M-Sport.

If Ford fell through on my order and I had to get a GT to option MagneRide, I would be cross-shopping the M440i and the S5. The Corvette looks cool, but it's a massive loss of practicality as far as a daily goes.
I would never get a 2 door vehicle for a daily driver or practicality. These would be a 3rd or 4th car as a weekend/track car.

If you need practicality in a sport coupe or sport sedan format, it's really hard to argue with an M3.

That's the reason people suspect a 4-door Mustang stablemate is coming. The audience that buys a $60k+ sports car just to use one or two track days a year isn't buying a base Mustang GT.

Two doors is a lot different than two seats. A Mustang can pick friends up from the airport, it has the space to be the car you take on a weekend trip, or a vacation drive. But you might be right, it may still be too impractical, and more doors would boost sales.

Budget Panamera e-Hybrid alternative? I'd buy it.

Ha, I did! For both. It's partially why I didn't get a GT and opted for the EcoBoost.

I just finished my lease on a ‘22 M3 Competition and there are a lot of opinions on both sides of the fence. I will agree the Tremec is better than the Bimmer manual but on the flip side, the ZF is better than the A10.

The turbo lag on the Bimmer I6 TT is minimal and the torque is phenomenal below 3k.

Sound of the Coyote is clearly superior. Looks are subjective. IMO, Ford SYNC is a complete joke.

This is probably why the M3 is so much more popular than the M4. So much so that BMW completely underestimated the demand for the M3 and overestimated the demand for the M4. You're not giving anything up with the sedan, but it's more practical, even if you were to use it as a track car.

From a practicality standpoint, I would opt for an SUV instead of a sedan. Expeditions/Tahoes/Suburbans/Yukons/Explorers would be at the top of my list for capability vs. value. I wouldn't buy a luxury European SUV because it just doesn't provide me with more capability.

Wave bye-bye!

drag racing is not my use-case. Btw / notice how slow the m2 was off the line lol. Go drive in the backroads with the windows down and do some power shifts / then we will talk. Bye-bye!

They are on a dusty ass track with human drivers and they launch on the word 'go'

Sorry the M2 kicked the DH's ass

Show me where the DH makes more power again? Was it down low?

Pathetic for a turbo. Steroids vs n/a. Boost that coyote and ask again.

Okay, if we're modifying cars the M2 gets a Stage 2 +++ turbo kit with all the goodies.

Sorry, the Mustang is not in the same universe with a 911. Price wise or performance wise. No one shopping a 911 would even consider a Mustang.
As far as the stablemate, I think it's a given that it's going to be BEV, like a 2 door MachE. No thanks.

All those mods hahaha. Talking about stock and driving on real roads - not just sticking it on a dyno and saying m2 or m3 is better.
End of the day it’s the driving experience
