Hey all, I've been looking at vehicles for the past 3 months and been playing around with builds of all kinds, but I've pretty much settled on getting a DarkHorse Premium. Had 3 Stangs in the past, got a RAM truck, but going back to the Mustang. Not a fan of turbo V6's.
Done so much research on forums, groups, etc, but still would like some input on a few things.

I've decided NOT to get the DH Handling package, b/c I'm never going to take it to a track, and a set of tires with that package would typically cost around $2600 on average. I've also heard they don't last that long miles wise and its difficult to find all season tires in those sizes. Without the DH handling packages its around $1,100 for a set of 4. Also, I don't want to deal that that splitter bottoming out.
Ford says not to use the tires under 45 degrees and they are rated as "Summer Tires." That doesn't workout for me where I live b/c temps will be lower at times and I don't want to change them often.

1. So my first question is what is a good recommended "All Season" tire for the DH? I've heard about Michelin AS tires, but was looking at the P Zero Nero AS ones for the DH. Anyone tried those?

I plan on doing a car audio upgrade where I'll put in 2 10" subs. In the past I've had systems in older Mustangs that would cause TV's to blur in nearby shops on bass hits and even shutdown fast food sytems when I was younger. Although I'm not looking for anything to that magnitude since I listen mostly to Rock, Metal, and only old Hip Hop pre 2000.
Also, since I'll have the 12 speaker B&O, I know there is an ANC and there is an ESE system that pumps artificial sound into the cabin. I plan on getting both disabled by the dealer. ANC makes and aftermarket system sound terrible from my RAM experiene before it was disabled. Disabling made the radio sound so much better and the exhaust in cabin as well.

2. Would excessive bass cause any damage to the screens in these cars, or cause that wavyness? I know some have done audio upgrades.

3. Speaking of the screens, I know there was a big recall and it has even delayed orders. Wondering if thats on older builds, and not new ones that I would assume might have the fix, or new builds are put in limbo until the fix is found?

4. For anyone who has disabled ANC and more importantly ESE, did you find that the exhaust drone or note in the cabin was lowered by a lot? I'm somewhat different in that I love hearing the loud drone and the exhaust note in the cabin.

Appreciate any help or input.

If you are looking for an all season car there, buy something else. Tires, Have the factory non hp tires and have 7,500 miles so far and am sure I have wear, but even and not really noticeable.

I have no input on your audio system question, but really wish they came with some ability to play CD's.

Are you saying that just because OP wants to drive his car in the cold, and will need all seasons, he should not buy a Dark Horse. I hope not because that's just nuts. There are folks on this forum who drive their Shelby's with all seasons. It's a Mustang and will do just fine in less than ideal summer weather.

OP, the cream of the crop in all seasons are the Michelins and the Conti's. The current Pirelli's are pretty decent as well (not the older ones) But there are others that are almost as good for less money. IMHO, tires are the most important part of your car. I wouldn't skimp on them. But not everyone has the money to do that. Oh wait, you're buying a$60K+ car. Never mind! :giggle::like:

Bass that would cause your display to malfunction?! 🤔 🤣

You know the DARPA is working on a directed audio weapon like that that causes uncontrollable diarrhea and vomiting.🤣

Be careful! That's all I'm saying!

The issue is snow, open intake scoops low in the front that is the issue ingesting "winter stuff".

Thanks for the links and info. I'm checking those out. Agreed that tires definitely are very important.

Also, funny to think someone says I shouldn't buy a car b/c I dislike the factory tires...LOL!
I'm in Central Virginia, and snow isn't a big deal, but it happens, so its not a major issue. I've driven past mustangs and other cars that sit just as low and driven in snow, and its not fun, but thats the way it is sometimes.

OP - I won't comment on the audio stuff, but as for tires, there are plenty to choose from out there. I've used high performance tires from MANY brands and categories and I'll say that for tires especially, you get what you pay for. Michelin tires, for example tend to be more costly, but they are excellent across the board. This doesn't mean you can't find good "bang for buck" tires, though.

An additional point to go along with tire compound is size. The DH comes with the same 255/275 stagger as a Mustang GT/PP, EXCEPT for the fact the wheels are 0.5" wider front and rear. So if you wanted to run a 275 square setup or even a 275/285 combo, you could with less tire stretch. Just keep in mind, you'll change the balance of your car when swapping from OEM sizes. Honestly, it really comes down to what you want out of your car.

PS4S AS tires have a very good grip and response. Firmer sidewall than the summer version but very liveable.
Havent tried the contis dws+ but they're said to be a little better than ps4s on wet/snow surface whyle ps4s are a little better than dws+ on dry tarmac.

You'll be fine with either one. NA coyote has a very smooth torque curve. Different story when boosted 😅

Oh “not a great start” 😮

So helping a fellow car enthusiast is against the rules of Mustang forum -? Is this a clique forum let me know ASAP please …?
No, of course not. But, that said, we do get a number of trolls on here. Someone's first post recommending a Corvette when the topic of the thread clearly states OP is going to buy a Dark Horse is, quite frankly, suspect. If you were just being "fellow car enthusiast", please carry on. :like::fistbump:

I have no problem recommending the Conti Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus. I've used them before. They have great stick and are more quiet and a little softer than the Michelins. I've only driven them in slush, but they handled it well.

I literally can’t think of a more played out car right now than a c8 corvette, I probably drive past 10 a day on my way to work, not including the dozens on lots.

I can speak for myself: I wouldn't let tires be a deciding factor on a $60-70K+ purchase. I wanted a GT with DH optional HP wheels and tires set. So I bought a GT, and brand new take off wheels and tires set for cheap.
