Also this is the pathetic state of your rad fan scheduling. Yes thats 40% only at 212 and thats what Ford wants the car to sit at. There is no need for a t-stat anymore, I can just rescale that table and bring down the temps and push the fans faster, earlier. This alone makes a massive difference.

AND, next fun fact you can also hard set the grille shutters to stay open 100%% of the time and that will also really help. When you are not running the AC, they stay close or partially closed more than when the AC is on. Its that way on a lot of ford vehicles. My F150 EB gets to 212+ with no AC on and when the ACs on, it sits at 187ish even in 90f+ temps because both sets of shutters are open all the way with AC demand... When those grille shutters are full open, you dont even need the oil coolers. Everything stays like 15f cooler at least.

**Note on the grille shutters, thats not recommended for winter driving. You need those to regulate that ice cold air to let the car get to normal operating temps. Here in FL where I live, thats no concern, but for my more northern customers I let them know if they are going to drive in sub zero temps, let me know so I can change those settings back to stock so the car has a fighting chance to get to operating temps.

If I’m understanding you correctly, since I have the MPVI4 and VCM Editor Suit, I should be able to change the values myself to reflect a PP/DH without paying a tuner?

Yes as long as you have the 4 credits already for your device for that car.

*If* it can be tuned this way, it's great for all the modded "base" guys who want to add an oil cooler to help with elevated oil and coolant temp readings, but it's infuriating that Ford went to all these lengths to create this whole set of tables, parameters, and algorithms instead of just installing a few actual temperature sensors.

The reality is even with this fix, the PCM is still guessing the oil and coolant temps, albeit just a bit more accurately than before.

There is no reason why a $60k performance car doesn't have a coolant or oil temp sensor.

At what air temp and ECT did you change your fan speed and to what percentage? 100% at 212 ECT?

Is this the same ECM (3038) with a Before and After or two different ECU's, from a Base and one from a PP/DH?

This is extremely helpful!
Two different. Top from non pp and bottom from pp.

Thoughts on leaving Desire ECT at 212 or changing it to 197? I think I'm going to leave mine at 212, just have the fans come on earlier.

shouldnt hurt anything. Just make sure if you have grille shutters you set them to open earlier or force them open all the time. You need them open 100% if you are going to run the fans 100% as well. Dont want them pulling on a closed inlet.

Absolutely. Hadn’t gotten that far yet, just making notes first before I start the process.

Here is the non PP inferred data and the PP/DH data. Easy change

The more I look at this the more it irritates me.
This morning I did some test loading at different RPM's and saw the non-PP numbers matching up. Which means they did NOT account for ambient temps at all or coolant temp correct?
Here in AZ it was 70 degrees this morning and my numbers matched the top chart almost exactly when I went to steady state driving.
So basically.... regardless of environmental conditions we don't REALLY know our oil temp.

Also makes me rethink which oil cooler kit to get if I pursue it. The tables would be based on Ford's data for the factory oil cooler.... a larger or smaller cooler would would not provide updated algorithms to input into this so you would be rolling the dice hoping the Ford engineers were in the ballpark for accuracy.

Welcome to basically the whole ford PCM.

These temps have been bothering me for a while because I routinely see ~228-233 oil temp while cruising at traffic speed (which in AZ often times is pushing 85+). That made no sense to me all winter (even in 50 degree weather).
I would have THOUGHT they would have used a complicated algorithm based on all factors.... now it's clear they don't.
