I work at my friends shop
My Toyotas have never been back to the dealer for anything
I buy Toyota filters 6 at a time for under $5.00 each and oil in 5 qt jugs.
I do a LOF and tire rotation every 7500 miles when I get some ambition and an open lift.
A couple of my Ford's may have had dealership LOF's, I know my F150 did, and my 07 Mustang did because I wanted a service invoice that documented that the car was 16 years old w/12K miles on it... plus I wanted them to add some limited slip fluid which was going to be a royal PITA in my garage in FL with no lift. The dealer charged me less than $40. I can't buy the oil, filter, and limited slip additive for that.
I wanted my oil in the 2024 done after 1000 miles before I put 700 miles on it moving it to FL
rather than deal with all the under belly hardware I figured I'd just bite the bullet and have the dealer do it.
$89.95
OEM filter and 10 quarts of oil
Cripes the 10 quarts of oil would have run me close to $60, add in a filter and we are probably close to $70... plus shop rags... we burn our waste oil so disposal is not a cost I eat, but I can't change the oil for less than the dealer is doing it for.
I am getting old, there is no joy when I work on my own cars anymore.
I am willing to let a competent dealership have the honor of doing a LOF on the Mustang once a year
Between customer cars, neighbors cars, my bikes and other cars I don't mind not doing the 5.0 just yet. That belly pan R&I seems like a royal PITA especially on ramps or jack stands
