Hi folks,
I recently took my car to a performance shop and did - among others - an oil change. I provided my own fluids, 10 Qt of oil plus the filter.
I have a dash camera on my car and I noticed that when they lifted the car they let it for at least 30-40 min (they were also changing the diff fluid) . When they put the car down , I saw the technician adding both bottles of the oil I gave , then he checked the dipstick few times and after a while he grabs a jar of a different oil brand and adds oil for few seconds (the brand I gave was Mobil 1 5w-30, and the one he added was liquid molly …I'm assuming it was the same viscosity). When I drove the car I went home and let the car overnight , then measured it in the morning and the level was sitting almost in the middle of the hatched area.
So question is what is happening here ? How come after adding 10+ Qt the oil level is in the middle ? In this normal procedure that mechanics follow? That is a performance shop doing all the prep work prior to events. I 'm assuming they know their sh***
Any potential damages that could happen from that ? (oil aeriation , loss of lubrication & damage , different brand mixture ?). Engine spec oil capacity for the GT 2024 model , according to printed owners manual is 10Qts.
