I have read a little about the OBDII Port on most if not all modern cars. I have also read that there is software called FORSCAN that is specifically designed for Ford and a few other manufacturers to provide similar information. However, it also requires a physical adapter but it does not appear to be ODBII based, but USB.
What is recommended for the S650?

For the moment, you can discount FORSCAN; they currently cannot support 2024MY Fords.

https://forscan.org/home.html

"Ford, Lincoln, Mercury models of 1996 - 2023MY (some models of 1994-1995MY are also supported). Attention: Some 2023MY Ford models may not be indentified (we work on it). FORScan may support limited set of functions and configuration parameters for brand new 2021-2023MY models (we work on it). 2024MY Ford and Lincoln models are not supported!"

Forscan is Russian. I believe the sanctions on Russia is impeding Russia from getting access to 2024 vehicles

this is not true. on 1/2/2024, they released an update that added compatibility for the 2024 Mustang, among other new vehicles

I just read there is still no support for the 2024 Mustangs. Where did you see that the update supported it?

Double-checking myself, I found the release notes page for the 2024 download.

If the software supports MY24s, great. If a new customer contemplating a purchase of any scanner device or software, it's something I'd want to study further.

For clarification, the OBDII port is still there under the dash. FORSCAN (and other such apps) is installed on a tablet or laptop. The required adapter uses a USB connector on one end and a OBDII connector on the other. Search the FORSCAN website for the recommended adapter. This allow the tablet running FORSCAN to tap into the vehicle's systems.

I understand the process and the components. I was curious as to which module (brand) and software is recommended. I am not too crazy about using some Russian developed software on my car's electronics.

Would say good luck, the Russians have been involved with safe software development and design since the days of Tetris.

There are alternatives. I'm simply asking what people are using (software & OBDII to USB link) on their Mustangs.
