Need some wheel/tire size advice

That is correct.... unless I go with a 275/40/19 tire....

With the 2024's the fitment is a tad different than the S550's. If you ever consider lowring the car you may have issues with a 27.7" tall tire.

Wow... such spirited conversation... Let me see if I can clear up any confusion...
The wheels that came with the car are just OK. I looking to upgrade my wheels to a more aggressive look and a little bit wider foot print. The car will not be tracked at any time. My car is a GT Premium 401a package. No PP. I've been looking at the Savini Black Di Forza BM14 Machined Black wheels in 19x9.5 ( BM14 Machined Black - Savini Wheels ). The next size up is the 19x10.5, but I am told that size might cause some fitment issues and I don't want to go with 20" wheels. I want to do a square setup, not staggered as I don't want to have to buy 2 different tire sizes. As for the tires, I haven't decided yet, but I have always like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric A/S. I'm looking at 275/35/19 for the tire size but wanted to get some advice/opinions from you guys since some of you have already done what I'm about to do and I just wanted to see what you guys did and see what issues, if any there would be. As always, your feedback/opinions are welcomed. Thanks guys!

I didnt realize the 401a option cars came with 255’s. Ours came with 265’s but maybe we got an option for bigger wheels and a wider tire. I’d have to look at our sheet.

Edit…. Never mind it was an option with our car. Happy to see this thread as wheels and tire fitment have never been easy for me to understand. This will be a good reference for others to see in the future

I'm looking to upgrade my current setup which is the silver wheels that come on the GT Premium (see picture of my car to the left) I'm looking to get a little bit wider stance. I'm looking at either a 19x9.5 or 19x10.5 wheel with a square setup, not a staggered setup. Which one would fit better and not have to worry about any issues like rubbing. What would be the best over all tire size? I was thinking 275 all the way around or is that too big would 265 be better. Keep in mind that I don't want to make the car look weird but do want a more aggressive stance without changing the handling or drive characteristics. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Correct ! no mods needed at all for this setup 19x10 285 all around is a direct bolt on if you are looking for something more aggressive we recommend 19x10 19x11 285/325

I wouldn't go beyond what it came with. Most of the OEM 19" wheels are 8.5" wide and the 255 tire is as wide as I would go.

Assuming you have either of the non PP GT wheels, I wouldn't go wider than the 255/40s that are on there. Those rims are only 8.5" wide.

This I don't know... I was speaking with a vendor who sells these and was advised that the 10.5 would cause fitment issues taking into account that I would be putting a 285 size tire on it. Since I want a square setup, it was recommended that I go with 19x9.5.

Offset is a huge part of the equation. If you don't know, then you can't really make an informed decision and it's tough to offer guidance. See if you can find out.

I'm going to echo what many others have already said. 10" is the sweet spot for a squared set up if you want to go wide. Since your wheels are not available in 10", then I would go 9.5". Visually, I doubt you'll be able to tell much difference (again depending on offset).

These cars can have significant "tire poke" on the front fenders with 10.5" rims (depending on offset). In other words, the tire extends out beyond the fender line and isn't flush. The Mach 1s had fender flares just for that reason. Note also, that the 10.5" front HP wheels on those cars have a good amount of negative offset to clear the brakes.

Keep in mind also that suspension geometry can be effected when going with a much wider tire and rim, and/or spacers. For that reason, I personally wouldn’t go past 10". Especially if you arent traking the car. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully that helps.

Well said. You are correct, most of the guys out there running a squared setup are doing a 10" wide with a 285 or 275.

My wife just got a 24 GT premium, and the wheel and tire package is small for such a heavy car with hp and tq.
Her 2020 LT1 camaro,which we are giving to our daughter have a bit wider 20inch tire and handles alot better than this car.
This one is pretty fast in the straights though.
On whell choice it's best to buy one of those wheel gauges that allows you to mount a tire y po u can get used and see we're it might hit.
I have a 72 chevelle and the wheel experts in the early 2000's swore that only a 255 tire with a 18x9 would fit. With tubular a arms ,we'll we are now fitting 315 30 18 tire on a 18x11 wheel so be careful with the experts that tell you can only fit x wheel and tire.
I feel ford should have put an much wider wheel package on these from the factory with the hp they produce..

I don't think he's asking about putting a larger tire only,he's asking what the largest wheel and tire AND OFFSET he needs to put a larger set on
I'm sure the mach 1 set will fit with some mods.
The generation is new and the info will come out soon.
This car looks pathetic with such a narrow wheel and tire package.
I'm going to change that on it for my wife.
