the GT is my first car in general. I'm not even 16 yet!
Aww man, yes now I remember. I thought your screen name rang a bell. I apologize if my response seemed snarky.

Here‘s what I’d suggest, and I fully realize that 99% of subsequent responders will tell you I’m full of crap, so take it as you will. Anyway, I’d suggest that when you want to get on it a little, first put it in track mode. Not drag strip because the higher front end attitude makes the steering feel lighter and less controllable. Then disable every nanny and “driving aid“ on the car that you can-everything. Then, and only then, get on the car a little bit. Just a little at the time. Work your way up and take your time. Be patient, it literally might take a year or two. Pretend it’s 1966 and it‘s just you, the go pedal and the brakes. This is IMO the only way to learn this car and fast cars in general. You gotta learn this stuff incrementally. It doesn’t come overnight. Plus you don’t want to lose your license before you get it or even worse.

You seem mature so you’ll understand what I’m on about here. You have a very rare opportunity for your age, so use it wisely and don’t squander it. I’m in my late 70s and this is how I learned-but I’m still learning. Even bone stock these cars are fast AF and will kill you quick. Have fun but always respect that fact.

There’s some wisdom here. The T/C on this car can be very subtle as I found out at track attack. I was losing drive out of one of the corners in the rain in slippery mode. I missed it 2 laps in a row but the 3rd lap I just floored it and then I could feel t/c cutting the power and I was surprised how quick it reacted.

Knowing the limits on the street without electronic assist, at least as it applies to brakes and maybe some evasive moves will help you. Take offs I’ll defer on. It’s a Mustang, not a yaris. We didn’t buy them to go slow. Just be judicious.

Looking back, it’s a good thing he wasn’t a GT. If that had been a neck-and-neck run with another V8, I likely would’ve slid right into him—pushed him over the curb, and possibly into oncoming traffic.
That could’ve meant serious injury… or worse. And for me? Possibly a manslaughter charge.
I'm sorry but are all of you on some really, really good drugs. A 16 year old teenager with a 400+HP car was racing on the street and all you can comment on are his tires. You're all fucking nuts. What if there was an accident that resulted in the loss of your child, spouse, brother, sister, parents, etc. What if his father died.

That said @Rambo5.0h, I can't really blame you. Your father deserves to be in jail. To allow a child to do this is a level of stupidity I've rarely encountered. There is no justification for street racing, none. I do not give a shit what people have done. As grownups we should know better. @Rambo5.0h you're a child, an immature one at that. So hopefully you have learned your lesson. You want to play, go to the god damn track.

Really appreciate you sharing that—it means a lot. You’re right, this car isn’t something you master overnight. I definitely tried to jump ahead too fast.

That “1966 mindset” really stuck with me—just you and the car. I’ll keep that in mind moving forward. Thanks again for the wisdom.

Usually trolls argue more and start shit. I don't see that from the kid. I'm sorta inclined to believe that its literally just a kid.

I hear you—and I’m not going to argue. You’re right that it was reckless, and there’s no excuse for what could’ve happened. I’ve taken full responsibility and already reflected hard on it.

That said, my dad wasn’t encouraging me to race—he was sitting next to me thinking we were just testing the Bouncie device with a launch. The V6 pulling up escalated the moment, and I made the wrong call.

I’m not proud of it, but I’ve learned from it. This post wasn’t meant to brag—it was meant to share that wake-up moment so others my age don’t have to learn it the hard way.

Appreciate the honesty, even if it came in a little hot.

Not trolling, man—this really happened. I get that it sounds wild, but I posted it to share what I learned, not to flex. If you don’t believe it, that’s fine. But I’m not here to argue—I’m here to own up to a mistake and maybe help someone else avoid doing the same.

Appreciate you saying that. I know the story sounds crazy, but yeah—just a kid trying to learn, make mistakes, and do better. Not here to troll anyone.

First I thought this guy was legit, but looking at his text right now, I realize it is ChatGPT. Look at the - in his text.

This is just a bot or a troll.

Hi there. I have 16 year old twins, both learning how to drive. I'm sorry for coming off so hot but your post scared the shit out of me. Unfortunately I can image the horror of losing a loved one to a needless accident. I'm so happy to read your post and that you understand what you did. Now carry on and enjoy your car. And please, please be careful.
