The added track performance.I would argue the exact opposite. For the cost to get Magneride, you better damn well feel a difference. Otherwise what's the point?
My understanding when I was buying my GT500 was that the real "value" was in the fact you got nominal street manners (normal mode, nothing mindblowing) but ALSO got the ability to have really high track performance which you would not get, in a single setting street damper.
Where they (Ford) fell flat with the marketing/messaging/implementation perhaps, and the subsequent expectations, was not allowing the modes to mix (which you mentioned). So you could combine the softer ride with the sportier throttle response and shifts.
