Why not build more Mustangs and satisfy all those outstanding orders?
There aren't enough GT / DH orders to run a 2nd shift, or increase the forecasting for parts. The handful of people who don't get their cars are loud on forums, but you don't hear the 99.9% of customers who make up Ford's market.

Ford is producing a vehicle that will allow them to run more scheduled shifts at FRAP, increase their parts forecasting with suppliers, and deliver more Mustangs to customers.

Fair point. To be honest, I was being intentionally obtuse in that statement.

I am all for a 4 door Mustang; it'll be in good company after the Panamera and Rapide.

Think diet soda before it was what it is. Tab was the original but now it’s get a coke/pepsi, which one - see the direct relation has been lost. Mustang has always been a 2 door coupe/convertible. Mustang gt (grand touring or tourismo whichever you prefer), 4 door is now a bigger car (mustang xl ?? - extra long, nope that’s confusing with the lx), they have another horse for off road called a bronco so now need a new name for big family hauler. Three horses/ponies or one slightly confused one?

Ford makes a four door mustang with a rwd performance manual V8, and you don't want Ford to call it a four door mustang...

What are people even talking about 😂 Of course they're going to call it a four door mustang because it is a four door mustang.

man’s that makes it better how?

chevy isn’t exactly the bastion of good decision making.

What’s next? Ford removing CarPlay to add its own “better” subscription service, like Chevy too?
BTW a lot of those Corvette guys hate the idea too, and no joke, they have people bring up Porsche to them as an example of the idea working too. 😂

You have it backwards. Mustang is/was a model within the Ford brand. That changed with the Mach-E. At that point, the model became a brand. Once that happened we all knew what was going to happen. It’s been discussed for years now. And no, our Mustang is not going anywhere. At least for the foreseeable future. And you can thank the “brand” for that.
Didn’t Jim Farley backpedal on that though recently in an interview? Saying; “We will never build a Mustang that isn't a Mustang. For instance, there will never be room for a small, two-row Ford SUV with a Mustang badge stuck on it.”

Just sounds like a crutch to me.

What’d they strap another saddle on it and call it a wagon?

There's an audience of people who are so pedantic we're lucky they're not demanding Ford sell horses.

Honestly I do not recall. But if we get to keep our Mustang I honestly do not give a crap what Ford does. The "other" models does not affect me one iota. Lose our Mustang would hurt tremendously.

I doubt we would lose it. I mean what’s stopping them from cancelling the 2 door down the road for the 4 door though? I just think the Mustang is too iconic to just toss. If so it would’ve been the probe a long time ago when making fwd cars was more profitable. I always expected it to get the 911 treatment like a hybrid version to keep it around.

I would be quite interested in a 4 door performance sedan from Ford that was a RWD V8. Give it just a little more headroom in the back and it's a winner for me. Right now, I am looking forward to the 2025 Charger and what it brings. My car is 11 years old right now and I am starting my search for a new vehicle. If Ford can bring a competitor to the charger and the 3/5 series, I would give them a serious look. Right now, the only car Ford has that I would look at would be the Mustang, and that's just a little smaller than I would like. I have no interest in a DD SUV.

I do agree that a 4 door RWD V8 Charger like car could be successful in Ford's lineup like the Challenger/Charger were for so long...Imagine if Dodge called both a Challenger though, so you could get a Challenger or a Challenger Charger 4. Seems stupid IMO to do that with the Mustang as Ford has so many great nameplates to use.

It's like Ford wants to just sell F150's and Mustang's with 15 variants of each so everyone can say they drive a sportscar or a truck.

The new Charger is exactly that... 2 door or 4 door.
