You mean removing manual transmission, V8 engine, and making it ugly?

That's exactly what Ford didn't do. Not only does ford want to keep manual performance v8s, they want to make more of them. And people complain 🤦🏼‍♂️
I didn’t say all that I’m just agreeing with you, well a little more agreeing to disagree.

Ah, I see it now 👌
I don’t mean it in a rude way either.

Like I said in the end it’s happening regardless if people like it or not. I love Mustangs, you love Mustangs, we just don’t agree on the name thing but it’s not that serious in the end. I respect your opinion because you’re a passionate. As long as the original Mustang is around that’s all that matters to me.

Something I think people aren't taking into account with multiple mustang models is economies of scale
Trust me, if that new Charger doesn't work out for them, it's not because they sell a four door/two door variant. Its because it's horrendous to look at and there's no V8.
Dodge hadn't made a good looking muscle car this century. Their designers just aren't very good. The challenger was the misproportioned ass of a Kardashian, the old charger was a lumpy potato, and this new charger looks good from the front, but the c-pillar is awkward looking.

It's almost always the back end, they always make the c-pillar weird looking, or the rear end too far, or long. I'll have to reserve final judgement of the new charger 'til I see it in person, but it also looks huge, which adds to the ungainly design.

For sure, the thing that matters is keeping the main mustang the main mustang and always advancing that 👍

Exactly, never ever kill the coupe. As long as the coupe stays alive, and the other mustang body styles are at least somewhat fast and fun, while being somewhat car-like, I'm ok with it.

The new charger definitely needs some flare on the sides. You kinda see where they were wanting to go but didn't quite make it there lol

You know what? Screw it. Ford should kill the two door coupe and shut everyone on these forums down. Then they all can go complain about the new Camaro or V8 Challenger. :explode::explode:

I hope it looks good, the problem is most sedans appear to be dying off as SUVs take over everything. If Ford does it right, this may be a nice option for a muscle car with 4 doors.

economy of scale only works if you’re making/selling more of the exact same thing (I.e. coyote engines, a10 transmissions, shift knobs, body panels, frames, metal stamping, etc.

But if you’re making an entirely different car - Mach e, Mach 4door, etc., there is no economy of scale to be had. It’s a whole different thing with different parts. Attaching the same nameplate to a different car does not magically unite the msnufacturing and assembly of vastly differing vehicles.

They could be using the same seats, dash, front end, hood, lights, wings, rims, tires, brakes, hood vents, windshields etc in edition to engines and half of the undercarriage. We don't really know anything yet. My guess is they will try to use the same parts as much as possible, and that's the point.

The engines, transmissions, seats, wheels, infotainment, and some body panels being shared definitely reduces costs.

Also important: splitting the fixed costs. Research, facilities, machinery, salaried engineers, property taxes, maintenance. If FRAP was running two shifts instead of one, all those costs would be split over the extra vehicles.

https://www.autonews.com/future-product/ford-planning-4-door-road-mustangs-dealers-told

Dealers saw a rendering of a long-rumored four-door coupe, which two of the sources said was called the Mach 4. Farley also showed a photo of an off-road Baja model, lifted with special tires, that he described as embodying "rugged" performance, according to the four attendees.

Other models included an EcoBoost variant modified by RTR, a company owned by off-road racer Vaughn Gittin Jr., that would start around $40,000. Dealers also saw a high-performance manual-transmission V-8 convertible, akin to the former Shelby GT350 or GT500, but the car, notably, had no Shelby badging.
