Ford had plenty of problems early on when they first implemented the OLM. So far mine seems to be working. If you believe yours isn't working as designed use your warranty and get it fixed. I want all our Mustang friends to be happy.

I checked. My OLM did not reset after the software update.

First oil change was at 3300 miles and 10 months, prompted by the OLM dropping to ~20%. Currently 5k miles and 16 months (+1700 mi, +6 mo) and OLM reads 51%.

Edit: corrected the miles since last change to +1700. Oops.

Then why did you say it's just a timer?

No one has claimed it does.
I didn't say anyone did. My point is I don't trust it. It is still basically a timer and its shit. If you want to go 10000 miles between changes that's cool. it is not what I do.

@sarahestelle ..... respectfully I do not agree. I would never leave oil in an engine for two years - particularly if there were low miles on it - as there will likely be a considerable build-up of acids, contaminants and water vapor. Even if I only put 4K miles on it a year I would at least change it yearly. IMO long intervals of sitting with "used" oil in the engine are worse than driving it longer periods.

Of I said two years, it was not correct. I’ve had the car for two years. The oil’s been changed at least four times. July was the latest. Two months later seems a little soon. Yeah, not what I said. Go back and read my post again slowly.

I just had an oil change in july, and I’m getting messages, texts, and emails to get an oil change. I barely have 6000 miles on my car after two years. (don't judge lol). There’s no way I need another oil change already.
they likely forgot to reset the oil life
make it a habit to reset the monitor or check it after you get the oil changed in case they do not do it to avoid this or just change your own oil its only 19 bolts to undo the under panel

I drive mine in traffic and highway mixed conditions and it goes from 100% to 10% in about 7,000 miles

I don't think I will follow it. I changed the break in oil around 1600 miles using full synthetic.
It was telling me to change again already by 4900 miles. It had been about a year , but the car sits in a garage that doesn't freeze all winter. So it does not have a condensation issue during storage.

Everybody's situation is different , but with 10 qts of Premium synthetic I will likely do 6-7k which will likely be every other summer. My wife drives it more and she never goes over 4k rpm , no Joke😆.

It's been mentioned several times already, that the OLM will require an oil change at one year regardless of mileage.

Yes , I know. That is why I referenced it in my statement.

The algorithm is based on more than just time and mileage. It takes into account engine temperatures and RPMs. This has been demonstrated by anyone who has tracked their cars (including me). After a track day, the oil life is SIGNIFICANTLY lowered. Some OLMs have called for an oil change after just 2 days of hard driving.

LOL, yeah, I do not know whether I will ever make it to 5000 miles on the dashboard prior to an oil change. I do baby mine a lot, but I also go to the track and I sometimes let it rip on the street (I know, I know, save it for the track).

My second oil change was today, at 4700 miles or so.

I use only Motorcraft 5W-30 full synthetic and the Motorcraft oil filter (I buy them on Rock Auto).
