Shouldn't be "moto truck from front only" then? The wheels you dont wanna move are the front wheels as they have the electric motor attached to them, so you should raise the front, not the rear.
What am I missing?

Uh huh. Interesting.

If there's an Ecoboost hybrid running around Dearborn, it's reasonable to assume there's a GT hybrid somewhere as well. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Pure speculation here - I don't see them putting the hybrid tech on the GT V8, as that would make it more powerful than the Dark Horse. Maybe they'll pair it with the DH's motor.

I will be watching with great interest.

Would def be interested in a hybrid V8 if it was done right and didn’t weigh more than 4k lbs. don’t see how they could keep the weight down

I was actually surprised Ford didn't already have a hybrid model on S650 launch. I would love an hybrid Coyote model, but don't really care about hybrid ecoboost.

For some it may be herecy, but if Ford really delivers a 4 door hybrid Coyote Mustang I would definitely concider it as my next daily

Gonna get hate for this, but hybrid v8 would be a great compromise with the EPA. Similar to the E-Ray hybrid tech, where it's hybrid for low speeds/X amount of miles before the V8 kicks in.
nothing but love bro. We all want ford to put serious effort into making the v8 every bit the next gen monster, but much more efficient as well. Hybrid is highly likely. A twin turbo v8 electric hybrid would be insane. Was hoping the Gtd would go that route, but we’ll see what the next couple years bring.

You shouldn’t get hate. That’s probably the next step in keeping the Stang around. It’s more of a logical step then jumping to full EV right away.

You love to see it. An AWD hybrid Ecoboost would, in theory, get pretty close to rivaling the performance level of a standard GT, while being better in the snow, and being a better car for commuting.

Not to mention a 2.3 high output AWD hybrid would be the perfect powertrain to share with the RS 200 concept Ford designer's created should it ever come to market.

A balls out hybrid GTD would be cool to see. But I suspect it would be too heavy, and having significantly more power would throw off the handling balance of the car.

props to the artist who drew Homer in the dirt on the hood. looking forward to them opening for commissions!
jokes aside, a hybrid EcoBoost would be pretty neat, and if the F-150 Powerboost is anything to go by, insanely fast, but not quite "this is stupid but fun" fast of an EcoBoost Transit
The fact that this was almost certainly done by an engineer just waiting around with nothing to do makes it even better. The frowny face to the right of it as well, almost expressing displeasure with people taking pics of the prototype šŸ˜‚.

I do t think the power difference throws off handling at all.

extra weight does. It’s a little nose-heavy right now. Almost 50/50 distribution, but not quite. Moving to turbo would have significantly decreased weight on the nose. - having an effect of even better handling.

and there doesn’t need to be a heavy battery for the ev motors. Since the batteries could be actively charged by the engine and their are other routes to take the need for short burst of electric boost such as supercapavitors, the weight can be about the same, while weight distribution improves, increasing handling, acceleration, and ultimately lap times.

for a 3-400+k car, it’s kinda shocking they didn’t do this.

still a super great car but man, they left some stuff on the table. I mean, the very affordable gt350 had a whole new engine created for it. And this gets the same thing you can option from a number of dealers for under 70k. A wide body kit, suspension, and wheels/tires shouldn’t cost an extra 300k, no matter what lap times it puts out.

speaking of which…how’s that going? Haven’t heard a thing. Porsche and Mercedes were crowing pretty loud shortly after they produced records. And here Ford is selling the Gtd based on the promise of Nurburgring superiority - with no proof of that promise.

I’m sure it will be fast, but fast enough? The zl1 will be in peoples garages about the same time if not sooner and doesn’t need a multimatic suspension with its midengine layout and own suspension upgrades. 1063 horsepower and more torque than the
Gtd has horsepower isn’t going to hurt either.

if the car has to make excuses with ā€œwell, it’s about lap times, not speed,ā€ then those lap times better be something else. Otherwise the entire purpose of adding 300k+ to the car is pointless.

hopefully it surprises.

So anyway… now that I’m all riled up, back to the subject, would be great to see ford developing a twin turbo v8 with electric boost.

Funny you should mention how it's going. Ford rented the 'ring out, but it started raining, so they did promo footage instead. But once the weather clears up, it's looking like we'll get a run soon.

I would also strongly consider a 4-door hybrid Coyote Mustang as my next daily! Sadly I can't see a reality where it would be priced around if not below a fully-loaded GT Premium.

If it might be close to 621 hp / 627 lb-ft torque, then you're looking at 2025 Audi RS7 (4-door sedan) pricing which starts at $130k. 😲
