I thought it may be fun to see how many Mustangs some of you mustangheads have had.

This came up as I was reading an unrelated post here on 7G forums where someone mentioned that the '24 would be their third Mustang. I got to thinking how I would answer that question... this could be my first, second, third or fourth Mustang depending on how you look at it. My wife has had three Mustangs, and since I buy them, maintain them and my name is on the title/registration, you could say that they are mine. So, the new '24 would be my fourth one. But my wife had the first mustang before we married, so she bought it and it was only in her name, and I only had to maintain it for a year or two before we got something else. In this case the new '24 would be my third one. If you count all of them as being my wife's car only... she doesn't like me driving her current baby... 2018 in royal crimson (maybe because my right foot is bigger than hers). That would make the new '24 my first Mustang. But her second Mustang (2006) I actually bought for myself... 5 days later, her car had some issues, so I let her drive the new Mustang and never got it back. Since it was mine for five days that would make the new one my second one. I think I will call the new '24 my first, what do you think?

Had a 2017 GT, currently have a Mach-E and getting the 2024 GT.

I've technically had 2 Mustangs, some might argue I've only had 1.

2014 V6 Prem Convertible (Retirement gift to self)
2022 EB Prem (left over 22 on lot - could'nt find 201A & wanted a S550 before the were gone)
2021 EB Prem 201A, Pony Pkg - found this one just had 6276 miles on it. (it's a keeper)

Way back in the day my best friend in hi-school got a brand new 65 Red/Red fastback HiPO 289 271 HP 4-spd. Got to drive it quite a bit but never got a chance to get one till retirement.

First mustang. I really like what Jim Owens has said in his interviews, that everyone has a story from their past about a Mustang.

For me, my dad owned a purple drop top cobra like this I believe
S650 Mustang How many Mustangs have you had? (a funny story) 1690411181668

And then a silver Terminator cobra.

He owned one or two when he was my age too and when I called him in March saying I wanted to buy one but didn't know if it was a good idea, he said without hesitation "you should do it!"
I'm super pumped for mine and wish I could buy him one too

I have been a Mustang enthusiast since the late 70's. After I joined the US Navy in the early '80's, I met a guy that had a 1969 Sportsroof Mustang, not anything special but I loved that bodystyle (Still do). I bought my first Mustang in 1988, it was a 1970 coupe with a 302 four barrel and automatic transmission. I really developed my mechanic skills with that car and a lot of help from my Dad.

I have owned 10 Mustangs over the years; (5) 1st gen, no 2nd gen, (2) 3rd gen, (2) 4th gen, (1) 5th gen, no 6th gen and soon to be (1) 7th gen. Not going to get into every Mustang I have owned but here's the list:

1970 Coupe 302 Auto.
1970 Coupe 429SCJ Auto (My first race car).
1969 Sportsroof 351W Auto.
1969 Mach 1 429SCJ Auto (Not factory) (My Favorite car).
1970 Mach 1 351 Cleveland Auto.
1982 GT 5.0HO 4 speed manual (Amazing that they called it HO at 157hp).
1993 GT LX 5.0L 5 speed manual.
1998 Coupe 3.8L V6 5 speed manual (Very first new car purchase)
2001 GT 5.0L 5 speed manual (Second new car purchase).
2006 GT 4.6L 5 speed manual (Mildly modified, most fun car).

2024 Dark Horse 5.0L 6 speed manual (First factory ordered car).
(Soon to be my most fun car!!!).

As the early mustangs were built on a Falcon platform.
1961 Falcon given about 1968. Received 63 mercury 170 cubic inch engine, manual transmission.
1962 Falcon Futura replaced the 61 about 1972 after 61 was rear ended hard. Engine transplant from 61 with a manual transmission.
1982 Mustang GT Red manual with 302 engine purchased new,
1996 Mustang GT Pacific Green manual with 4.6L engine purchased new.
2024 Dark horse manual in racing red.

That looks like a 96 but I am not sure about the purple. Ford had a paint about that time that was first available on the Cobra and it change color depending on how the light hit it. I suspect it was pretty rare because it was a costly extra and I don't think I have ever seen one in real life.

Now that Iā€™m thinking about it, it was actually a Saleen mustang (not a cobra) that looked similar to that. It was a convertible cause he had this extra piece that you could put on the back that made it look really sweet. I can try to find a picture

Nice Mustang history there! I loved the 69 & 70 Mach 1's. I test drove a new '22 model (50 mi. on it) a few weeks ago and loved it... still tempted to make an offer as dealer keeps dropping the price ($58K now), might have to cancel my order but I think I'm liking the '24 more and more, so I'll keep waiting patiently for it.
