Okay I’ve been at this for a month now. My family ask me what I wanted for Christmas and I said ROTORS! It is a pain to hunt down something that can handle the track and heat without cracking or warping. I have gone through two sets of OEMs on the front paired with G-loc pads.

I have a base model GT (no PP/no Magneride) and I’m just looking for anything I can use outside the OEMs.
Side quest…..I see a lot of the 2-piece rotors that are on the DH, GT350 and other models. Is that something that will fit for my base model. My rotors are measured to 15.4in or 390mm.

Are you talking about big willow? Not much braking there except going into turn 1 and 3 ... so if you're over heating your brakes there you might want to first explore the brake ducting and control arm air diverters.

Then going to the larger DH front rotors and the larger front Brembo 6 piston calipers.

Here's a brake ducting related thread: https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/darkhorse-front-brake-ducts-in-a-gt-5-0-pp.161925/

Good luck.

I’m on the east coast. My tracks consist of Road Atlanta, VIR, CMP, RRR. Carolina Motorsports Park have been where I warped rotors because of the decline and harsh braking with turns like 1, 4, 8, 11, and 14. I’m still learning and ride with an instructor to help with growth. I also cut my linear to flow air to the brakes like when I added the oil cooler. I did it to both sides.

Sorry... I must have been looking at a different thread when I mentioned those two tracks...

But the advice is still the same.

The forum you added reference Willow Springs. I am looking into ordering the duct work to help out.

I ran StopTech Aero Rotors and 4-piston calipers for over 12 years road racing in the midwest. Rotors will begin to spider crack over time, depending on the abuse at the track. I usually had to change out my rotors every 2 years, + -. Inspect the rotors after every weekend session. Once you begin to see spider cracks near the edge of the rotors or the cracks begin to get wider, time to change out. I also used temp paint on the rotors to watch how hot they'd get and to endsure I had good ventilation with brake ducting etc.
My sole supplier of StopTech products was: Dave Zeckhausen

They have a great selection of Brembo, StopTech etc., rotors and products. Need help putting it all together, contact Dave, he's very knowledgeable and helpful.

If you have a lot of big braking zones (which it sounds like you do) ....you should not only do the ducts (and the control arm diverters) but the larger front DH brake calipers and rotors. These cars are very heavy... and while the front brakes are nice 4 piston Brembos, the rotors are on the small side for such a heavy car for track use especially when you start using more track oriented tires (like R compounds).

I track mine with the stock PP rotors and have had no issues. I just replaced the front rotors and yet going through 3 1/2 sets of brake pads, and they probably would have been ok for another set of pads. It may be worth looking at upgrading to PP brakes and adding the cooling components as well.

When I tracked my S550 GT non-PP I immediately discovered that the OE brake rotors were not very well (if at all?) vented, which was a major issue. I changed them out for some aftermarket ones (Steeda, perhaps?) and used G-Loc pads which I did not like at all, and added ducting. I then changed to Hawk pads and with the new rotors and cooling, had no further issues.

I would also suggest that in your next events that you tell your instructors about your issues, they may be able to help you modify your braking style to reduce heat.
