I do not have Forscan and do not know how to use it. How difficult is it to obtain one and try this out, see it it is turned on? If it is turned on, I guess you can turn it off, go for a drive, and see how it sounds?

I know, for example, that hitting the throttle wide open in Drag Mode, for instance, the engine sound is almost disturbing, like other worldly. My 8 year old asked, "What was that? What happened?"

Now you make me wonder if it was all coming from the exhaust pipe, or there is some electronic blast coming into the cabin.
Would a little bit of tape over the microphones be enough to muffle the sensitivity, as a test?

FORScan is free to download and you get a free 2 month extended license every two months if you want to keep using it. The only expense is a OBD2 adapter. I use the BT OBDLINK MX+ but currently FORScan is recommending the wired EX. Both are available on Amazon. Here is the FORScan site: https://forscan.org/download.html

YouTube is a great source on how to videos. You asked about "as built." As built is your vehicle's complete programming from Ford from when it was built. Most will download the AB file before making any changes in case you mess anything up you want to be able to go back to your original settings. You can download yours here: https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt You'll want to save that file because your car is active and phones home once in a while. When it does, any changes you have made are uploaded to Ford and become your new AB and your original files are gone forever from Ford's database. (This also happens when the car is at the dealer and they plug in to do any updates.) You can also do a manual backup of each module you are modifying before making changes.

Go to that motorcraft website, enter your VIN and once you see the very long table on the website, search for the line 727-01-01 and post the complete line here.

S650 Mustang Has the GT also fake exhaust sound? 51001

You do not need to download the file.

The ESE doesn't use microphones... sounds are artificially generated.

Based upon what? Does modified exhaust result in new generation file?

Based upon wiring diagrams and vehicle programming. There is no file generation... the sounds added are just tones... nothing changes (with ESE) when the exhaust is modified.

It's not pre-recorded vroom vroom sounds that play from an audio file.

It's just low tones similar to noise canceling headphones.

Could somebody elaborate here on what is going on?

I am feeling more confused by the explanations.

Is the GT ESE different from the Ecoboost ESE?

I would like some very basic, detailed explanations of what the car is doing, if anybody can do that.

Can you please first go to the motorcraft website and check your data so we know how your car is set up?
Thanks.

The clueless "Ford technician" speaks about ANC and speakers in the headliners playing engine sounds, that is exactly that kind of stupid confusion inducing crap that leads to threads like these getting long and longer.

Your second video and the one I linked earlier draw a better "sound" picture of what it is about.

Forget about explanations if you're not into audio technology, just decide if you want it, or not.
And if you are into car stereo and want to upgrade, make sure to have it turned off by Ford or somebody who is capable of using Forscan.

That means ESE is turned on in your Mustang.
Do you have the B&O system?
Have someone change the D to a 0 (zero) and you're done.

Sorry, just trying to share what I found. Being ignorant makes it difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.

That seemed like a very significant difference.

That means ESE is turned on in your Mustang.
OK, thank you.

Do you have the B&O system?
Yes.

Again, thank you. I suppose that would make it pretty easy to try out to see whether I like it, or not. I am guessing this might make the stereo easier to listen to and my ride a little quieter.
