You mean like the Busmaster M4 I used in Afghanistan, or the Colt M4 I was used in Iraq (Or any of the M249s, or M240s I was issued for that matter)? 😉 They all had plastic forearms, not metal.

Of course they gott hot under sustained fire, but not like a metal forearm would; which is why virtually no modern military long arms (despite Rob's unsupported claim plenty of hang guards are made of metal) use any type of metal for them.

And, despite Rob's non sequitur of intake air not being in the intake tube for long; it's just basic physics that air going through any intake tube that is hotter than an intake tube made of a different material; that air will absorb more heat. QED.

"Intake tubes are made of plastic... because you can shape them however you want, unlike metal." 🤣 Let me repeat. Stop!
you've never seen an AR15 with a metal hand guard/rail?

Quickly flowing air across metal that isn't all that hot (how much hotter than ambient do you think an intake pipe is anyway?) isn't going to increase the temperature of the air by much. It's simple physics, at least you're right about something.

and yes, that's why many air intakes are made of plastic. Easier and cheaper than metal. Simple ones that are just a pipe with a filter on the end are metal but that's the ricer aisle at Autozone

While tuning may still not be available, there are still improvements to be made with the factory air intakes on the S650. And with dual intakes those improvements go a long way. Well, we took what we've known from our past development of the Steeda Closed Lid Intake and other cold air intakes in the past and put it together for the 2024 Mustang. This kit is designed to fit both the GT and the Dark Horse, and you'll see the real world gains tested in this video. We also compare it against a competitor's intake to show you how the Steeda intake is superior.

Check out the product here - https://www.steeda.com/steeda-555-3234-mustang-v8-proflow-cold-air-intake

Nice work Steeda…

The price point is crazy...
but I am excited to see any parts come to market for the S650.

I wish also there was options to get the Tubes colored

I've got the filters on order now actually but will be interested to see who the first person on here to paint the intake tubes to match their ride and what the durability of that would look like LOL

This really seems like double the price it should be.. even with proven gains, I just don’t see the value this is offering at that price point. I’d pay this much if they were some special material like carbon..

Great video. Nice to see the different comparisons. It's obvious from the various comments that this CAI isn't for everyone. I get it. There are those who don't want to spend that kind of money. There are others who will. You're never going to please everyone. Steeda is offering a new product and it's our choice whether it's within our means or not. :like:

im glad the aftermarket is ramping up for the S650 finally, but this is not it. i'll give you credit for not making the intake tubes out of metal like K&N did, means the point of the CAI is not totally nullified by having the intake air indirectly heated by the engine bay air via metal tubing. but in my opinion, this just seems like not a notable enough gain in power for the price of $675. so much money for so little improvement

Steeda makes great after market gear, no question. My only concern with this product is voiding my 5 YEAR warranty on the engine and for what I ask? IMO for very little gain vs the potential pain.

@Wiley Marmot yes bang for buck is a question. I am also leery of the gains in the real driving world for the money and the definite ability for Ford to void the engine warranty (on my 2024 that's 5 YEARS!) for exactly what? Love Steeda, not this product.

I have always been satisfied with any Steeda products I have purchased. They offer a decent product and try to make a profit from selling it. There are a lot of incidental costs involved, but don't forget that this is essentially two intakes, not one as in the past. As for aluminum vs plastic nonsense, it depends on which compromises are deemed most practical by the design engineers and you decide by choosing what you buy. Ford has produced a great product for consumer use with the stock intake. It limits the cheap fixes available.

#MeToo I had Steeda parts on 2 previous Mustangs, cannot complain about them.

But it’s ok to point out this is a bit spendy. I can have an intake kit AND turbo inlet tubes for my Raptor at the same price point. The intakes go about $300-$400, single throttle body & filter.

I would not want to spend the money for this myself, but for some people it will be worthwhile. I tend to look at improving handling and if I wanted more power, a tune or exhaust upgrade would be my first choice.
