The camo make the wheels n tires look smaller. They can fit 305s front and rear on the existing car, so no need for wider fenders.

One thing that's really odd to me is that it's allowed on the streets with the taillights and headlights virtually completely obscured.
I realize that it's a camo for a reason, but most I've seen had at least a tiny cutout for the main functions. This one has a tiny little mesh through which you can barely recognize that the brake light is on (yes I see the CHMSL, but still):

Bonus old Mustang up-front. :)

Proportions look kind of off too, but I'm sure that the area highlighted just has a dummy panel to fool people, plus the panel wraps make me question my eyes too.
I need to get a gray wig and apply at Ford!

Yeah, the black "bonus" S197 did make me smile :)

Wonder how long we have to wait for the next spy shots! The weird thing is I'm not anxiously waiting for them like I was for the first ones. I think I just needed visual confirmation S650 was definitely coming. We've got that now. I guess it could be months before the heavy camo comes off.

Single exhaust pipes on both sides? No more active exhaust?
Look closer, and you'll see the mufflers have 2 outlets. They just added 2-to-1 pipes to the mufflers. This is just for testing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they took the bullitt/mach 1 coyote variant. Made some internal changes 480-500hp and call it the gEN 4 engine

ford has done this before with the 2010 mustang GT and the same in 2005 where the old mach 1 was internal benchmark for the new 3 valve engine

Yup - typical test car exhaust
When it comes to test cars i always tell people to ignore the big details because it’s either there because it’s what they had around or it’s there to throw people off

aka pay attention to the small stuff

You can see the test driver, putting the car in gear before taking off, at least that means the manual trans should continue into s650

What if it's all electric and the exhaust sounds are faked by external speakers? :frown:

C'mon, if you've read up on here you'll know S650 is a heavily updated S550......engines and all. A full EV won't come until the 8th gen/S750.
What if, and hear me out here, the s650 mules we've seen are just rebodied e-series chassis being tested? It seems crazy, but have you ever seen the e-series and s650 being tested at the same time? Coincidence? I think not, I rest my case your honor. *Plays X-files music as I leave the courtroom*

you know what is sad about that?
The s550 is just a worked over s197.

so basically the brand new 2024 mustang is still just based on a car from 2005.

bummer.

been hoping for a true new Mustang platform for too long.

That may be true but look what's happening with its closest rivals. Challenger becomes a pure EV and Camaro dies in '24. Given either of those scenarios, I'll take a warmed over S550 and be thankful we have another generation to enjoy.

The new mustang is supposed to be based on the new CD6 platform used in the current explorer.
