Given all the electronics in new cars these days, I am considering an extended warranty. I know Ford offers one. To be prepared with a competitive policy, I checked with Endurance on their "Supreme" policy - $100.00 deductible, 8 years (actually 5 after the standard warranty) or 101K miles. Believe me, it is "Supremely" priced! I don't even have a VIN yet, so the quote I was given was probably low.
What is the experience of the Mustang GT crowd?

I have an ESP that I purchased with my 2018 S550, because it was a first year for that I wanted the protection and I will do the same with the S650.

So, you went with Ford's ESP. Did you do any competitive research? If so, what did you find?

There is no 3rd party policy that even comes close to the Ford ESP. It may not be perfect but it is the best. But you need to do some reading up before you decide to buy immediately after getting your car as the warranty does not kick in until after the factory warranties expire..

Should you decide to do so there are a number of good online Ford dealers to buy from but I would recommend our Forum sponsor Grainger Ford.

I didn't research it at all, it was my first Mustang that I bought myself for my 50th birthday and I wanted it to be hassle free. I will read up a bit more on the different aspects of what they are offering this time around as I don't drive it all that much, I still have less then 16K on it so I'm not sure it was worth it. Also, Nothing has happened that wasn't covered under the regular warranty, I had a miss fire warning and a LCD die.

One thing I had purchased was some kind of Tire insurance, at 11000 miles both front tires were worn due to a slight miss alignment which wasn't covered, I was pissed and they ended up refunding the money on that. I also have them check the and record the tire wear at each inspection to catch an alignment issue early. This time I will be replacing the tires at delivery and they come with road hazard from Tire Rack so that wont be on the list of things to buy.

Thanks.
One important point I think I have picked up and that is I can purchase a Ford ESP anytime prior to the expiration of the factory warranty - correct?

Yes. The mileage and time run concurrent with your factory warranty. I know it’s weird but that’s what they do. So an 7 year/100,000 mile policy is actually a 4 year/64,000 mile policy. I only have 15k on my 19’ so I waited until month 35 to buy mine.

A Ford ESP plan would be best. While 3rd party plans are available, there are a lot of grey areas and legalese; a Ford plan eliminates virtually all that.

Granger Ford * offers the best price, period. $50 over cost. You can buy on-line any time. It's a Ford plan which can be used at any Ford dealership. If you want to test-drive pricing before buying, you can do that to. The second link will let you compare all Ford plans side-by-side for coverage.

I bought a Ford ESP plan from Granger earlier this year.:thumbsup:

* Granger Ford is not licensed to sell Ford ESP in FL, CA and possibly other states. The Granger link is correct. If you do not see your state of residence listed at their site, they cannot sell a policy in that state. For FL in-particular, I believe it has to do with Consumer Protection laws and out-of-state providers. I know, it's a Ford policy by a Ford dealer. But they still need a license if out-of-state.

I'll update my post, but in your situation, I was wrong.

I forget that, in the state of FL (and CA), you have to be licensed in the state to sell these policies. Granger is not licensed to sell Ford ESP in FL. While you will not be able to buy from Granger, you can shop around other Ford dealers in FL.

Damn, I missed that too. Florida sucks that way. @DCS try working a deal with your dealer if they try and push this on you. Get quotes from all of the online dealers (use another state, of course) And use them to make a deal.

I am assuming my Ford dealer here in FL, can sell me the same ESP that Granger sells. However, I'm assuming the Ford dealers can charge whatever they want and that Granger is selling at $50.00 over cost - Correct?

Yes, the policies are identical. And yes your dealer, knowing they have the upper hand, will most likely laugh at the prices you bring him. But if they are will to deal, then maybe. If not just wait. There is no rush. Who knows, maybe you‘ll move in the next few years.

Correct, but the longer you wait, the higher the price is likely to be due to periodic price increases from Ford. If you know you want an extended ESP, it's probably cheaper to buy it right away.
