You act like that's worse than the first generation NSX

They weren't trying to sell 100,000 or even 10,000 of those things
They couldn’t sell 3k in 6 model years.

The car was ahead of it's time being a hybrid when they were not common. Volume doesn't determine success - Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini don't chase volume.

As to your comment about Michelle Christensen - she seems to be doing very well for herself so people in the industry don't share your misogynistic views.
Common sense isn’t misogynistic and as Ben Shapiro says “facts don‘t care about your feelings”.

Something you seem to be struggling with.

It starts with women don't design cars - turns out they do.

Women don't design trucks - turns out they do

When all else fails YOU don't like the cars they designed - so what

Turns out the designer is now doing very well in the industry - you don't like that.

You are the one letting feelings overcome facts.

Just because YOU don't like the truck doesn't mean it is not an engineering success.

You are making men look bad
Fords Lightning penetration was 7% last year. When you factor government and municipality sales they wouldn’t even be close to that with the buying public. Now that that the sales won’t be subsidized by the US taxpayer after Sept sales will drop like a rock.
Yes it is a failure.

More drivel
Not old enough to remember when secretaries were women and only the men were allowed to do the buying? I assumed that would have been clear with the executive assistant reference. Females designing cars is simply the other half of the equation what we stuck in the day only men drive? Nope, happy wife happy life.

Since when is “designers doing very well” equal loss of revenue and lower sales?

Sold about the same numbers as the Ferrari 458 which was a similar price.
Are you taking into the equation you have to buy a used Ferrari at above MSRP and then trade it in at a MAJOR LOSS to even be able to get a 458 at the time?
Thats right do you even have a clue what it takes to buy some Ferrari models? I do. You don’t just walk in and say I’m buying a car today at MSRP.

Honda/Acura made a total of 2,908 second generation NSX’s. That is beyond abysmal. You have to try to be that bad.
It would seem Honda had it’s “Bud Light” experiment and it blew up with this woman at the helm.
I'm not sure that had anything to do with having a woman in charge. The problem was that Honda forgot what the NSX was about. It was NEVER intended to be a high tech show platform, it was intended to be a grounded driver's car. The second Gen NSX did EVERYTHING wrong in that aspect, even if it was decent on paper.

Think of it like when Top Gear voted the Lexus SC430 "The worst car in the history of the world". Not because it was necessarily a bad car, but because it was a car that didn't achieve ANYTHING that it intended to. It was a roadster that only looked like a roadster and handled like an Accord. THAT is what Honda achieved with the new NSX-precisely the opposite of what their audience wanted.

Honda would have been better off just relaunching the original NSX production lines and cranking out new copies of the original. Sure, it was underpowered and showing its age, but it was far more of a driver's car than the new iteration.

Honda and Toyota seem to have forgotten this lesson for the most part., and it wasn't only that woman that is guilty of this. They've done a decent job with the Civic-R and the Integra-S, but too often it's all about packing on tech and hybrid parts rather than producing the cars that their base wants.

I knew a surgeon who got into flipping Ferraris due to this. He waited years to get the entry level purchase, but once he did, he was able to move up the line and buy the more desirable models-he'd keep them about 6 months then flip it for far more than he paid. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Hopefully it will pick up but I don't think it will because most people like to drive SUVs and pickup trucks and electric vehicles more than ever. Mustang is an entertainer and extra car but that's my opinion.
It doesn't suffer as much from "extra car" syndrome as many. Try a Miata or an S2000. I struggled to even get a 27 inch computer monitor home in my S2000. Didn't fit in the trunk and scraped the inside of the hard top when I put it on the seat. That being said, you do have a bit of a point as people aren't used to renting a truck for larger items or paying for delivery like we used to "way back in the old days".

Engineering success - the vehicle works as designed. NOTHING else determines engineering success.

You are now moving into politics which as you know only too well are not allowed on here.

Nothing to do with the original posts. Women design cars (and trucks) full stop!

No sales are NOT going to pick up. Traditionally the first two years of a new model or refresh are the biggest sellers and that ship has sailed.
Also, Ford increased the MSRP and stopped giving the 6MT at a discount (they now give the auto "for free" which means paying more for the manual). That increased the price by almost $10k from 2024 to 2025 even before possible tariffs enter the picture. I think that cracking the system to allow tunes will increase interest, but the pricing changes will likely damp down that enthusiasm.
