Np man. I was struggling to find a way to disable that gallop b/c I had worries, but since they tapped into the rear speakers for the sub install it wasn't an issue at all.

On the GT with Active Exhaust I never noticed anything exahust sound related through my speakers even though it was set to on.
Tomrrow when I drive I'm going to see if there's any noticeable difference.
If I had subs I would hear it, but through the 9 speaker w/o sub factory system never heard it.
I never noticed it w/ the factory 9 speakers either - it's absolutely unbearable w/ subs

Watched a few videos and figured I would make a short and simple guide here on how to do it.

Get Forscan from www.forscan.org: Make sure you use/get the most recent update.

Apply for the Extended License Trial: You'll need to enter some info. Hardware ID is gonna be for the Laptop. It tells you to wait 30 min and then hit refresh on the page. I did that and when I did the link appeared upon refresh for the Licence Key. Apply that to Forscan and says I'm good till 8/11/25.

Use their recommended ODB II Adapter. It was $59. https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-ex/?ref=forscan I would not take the risk on using any other adapter, but what they recommend.
You are going to want to connect this ODB II adapter to the Laptop "while near an internet connection" so that the current drivers are installed.

Critically Important: Go to https://www.motorcraftservice.com/SetCountry?returnUrl=/AsBuilt Enter the info and save the AsBulit file which will be named as your VIN in .ab file extension. I would not change the file name, and I would recommend downloading it twice to have an extra copy. Before you close this page locate the line 727-01-01 and note the 3 sets of 4 numbers(write them down or take pic with phone). The set of numbers to look at is the 3'rd group of 4 off to the right. My 3'rd set had the ANC disabled already(set to 0), but the ESE was on(set to 1).
For ANC its the 2'nd digit x*xx where * is the digit to change if necessary. For ESE its the first digit *xxx where * is the digit to change of necessary. I changed my 1 to a 0. This is for the 3'rd set only.

You can leave the door open on the car for programming. I did it in 87 degree weather and didn't feel like getting cooked inside the vehicle with the door shut.😂

1. Plug in the ODB II adapter to the ODB II port which is at the far left under the dash. Other end USB to laptop.
2. Start Forscan software on the Laptop.
3. Turn on ACC(Hit start button once w/o touching brake).
4. At bottom left of Forscan screen hit the Connect button. It will do reading and ask if you want to save a module, which I did.
5. Next click the CPU looking icon off to the left. Scroll down at the right to find ACM(Audio Control Module). Mine did not have the Easy mode, only the As-Built option. Once the ACM is highlighted hit the Play/Read/Run button at the bottom left
6. Important: At bottom hit Save All to save that particular modules factory settings. I named mine ACM Original. Saves with .abt file extension. If you ever lost track or made a mistake you would go back to that module and hit Load All and pick the file ACM Original that you saved in my case for example to restore factory settings for that particular module.
7. Find the line 727-01-01. For me it was the top one. I changed my 1'st digit in the 3'rd set of numbers to a 0. 2'nd digit was alredy 0. Hit Write and ok on the warning popup. Now on mine the Write was 3-4 blocks down but still saved the change I made.
8. It will prompt you to turn Off the ACC, and then turn it back On. I waited to make sure all screens were off before turning back on to be safe.
9. At bottom left hit the Stop/Disconnect from module button.
10. At left Hit the Car icon and then at the bottom of that window hit Disconnect(button to right of the connect to vehicle button)
11. All done, and test changes. Started my car and checked the radio. Didn't drive it to see if any difference via ESE yet, but will update this if a noticeable change with it off.

Do at your own risk, I assume no responsibility for errors. Ok Lawyer speak done.

Really not that hard. To think one audio shop wanted to charge over $350 to do this.😲 Found a better shop I'm going through and did it myself.

Edit 10/7/25: Don't force the ODB II adapter too hard when plugging it in or the cheap plastic surround will snap off making the cable become loose. I had to rig it to sit back in the hole/plug area. Also, I noticed no change in Exahust Sound with ESE off or ANC off. It is definitely required though as I talked with Car Audio installers and they said its a must to turn it off.

For me this turned off my volume control on apple car play. I have a 2025 GT. Everywhere I look people have said the same as you. Not sure why mine is not working.

Thank you! I followed your instructions and had zero issues doing this.

I'll add that I only did it to remove ESE, and although it's a subtle change, it's well worth it.

I also turned off the collision avoidance.

And I used the not-recommended ELM327 adapter, which worked just fine and was very economical.

Hi all, just wanted to say thanks to this thread and about 3 minutes watching a Youtube video making this change took me maybe 45 seconds. Literally the first time I've ever used Forscan. You guys are great.

I drive 99% of the time in quiet mode, and they (Ford) still pipe in fake exhaust noise even then. Removing the ESE has eliminated the drone... it's not so much the volume as it is the tone of the exhaust is much more pleasant. Some of the lower tones are gone.

I also found the ESE to be just too loud, way too loud, in track mode, but I'm not going to replicate my experience with that (WOT, near redline) on the street. I''ll let you know after my next track event, which is scheduled for April.

Fake as in akin to the miniaturized band that magically appears (but is never seen, kinda like the ‘fridge light / some dudes cat?) in your glove box each time a song is selected? That kind of ‘fake’?

If you scratch your ass but never sniff the finger, is it actually dirty?

Interesting. This is where I found the electronic sound (I presume) jarring.
