Did you notice an improved 0 - 60 time after switching to wider / stickier tires?

Just wondering if anyone timed their best 0-60 before and after upgrading their rear tires?

Iā€™ll try this for you next week if I get time and report back šŸ§

I would guess 3 or 4 tenths fairly easy though

Is this a trick question?

All other things being equal, of course increasing tire contact patch area and using a softer that factory rubber will increase your times (not just 0-60, either).

That seems a bit optimistic. Is there even that much spread from a base GT non-PP to a DH HP?

itā€™s not at all uncommon to see cars 60ft alone drop from 2.0/2.1 to 1.6/1.7ā€¦ if anything I was being conservative

No, I'm just curious what the difference is. Right now I can consistently hit 4.3 seconds to 60mph in a manual with 255 all season continental tires. I'm just wondering what I might be seeing once I go to a 315 summer tire.

i never timed my 0-60 with the Trofeo RS tires, but getting 40mm wider PS4S tires makes my 0-60 as low as 4.16 seconds

oh, I thought you were changing compoundā€¦.
street tires arenā€™t gonna help much for you then.

going wider wonā€™t normally do anything, itā€™s the tire compound that makes all the difference

the fastest s550 mustang on earth runs a 275 out back.

im curious to see what/where this info is from, everything i see is 6 second cars running drag radials well above 275 and the fastest stock S550 GT500 runs 315s in the rear.

swapping to a wider/higher performing compound tire is one of the best things you can do for your car as at the end of the day they are the only thing connecting you to the ground, you can make all the power you want, if the tires arent there the car wont go. personally havent done any 0-60 pulls but even when launching from a stoplight you can feel how much better the car hooks up on wider tires.

All other things being equal, your final gear ratio and your tires have a big impact on your 0-60 mph times. The 2.3L Ecoboost shaves 0.5 seconds off its 0-60 mph time just by going to the 3.55 Torsen and wider Summer tires (performance package). The benefit for wide, sticky tires on the Coyote is even greater.
